NFL  > General NFL  > An outsider buying the BROWNS, smells like relocation to me !
August 3, 2012, 12:30 AM
Could this happen again, could the Browns sneak out of town in the middle of the night.

Apparently there is a clause on the deal that promises he will not move the team, whatever, you know that's bogus, if someone spends a Billion dollars on something they will and can move it where ever the hell they want.

Can we agree on that?

Where would this guy take this team, post some ideas.

Here is my top 3:

1) Kentucky

2) Iowa

3) West Virginia

Tells us about your pick.

Rumor is Tim Tebow is buying the team and moving them to G'ville Florida. He is hiring John Elway as GM and bringing in Manning as QB. The name of the team will be the G'ville G'spots. Good times will be had by all.

No. The Browns aren't going anywhere 'cept upward in the standings once they clean "management team" house and turn the page on the decade and a half Lerner ownership fiasco. Looks like Mike Holmgren's gonna be a free agent sooner than he thought.Maybe Spanos will take note and sell to someone who can deliver new coaches, GM, and paydirt.

Agreed! My guess is that Bill Polian will be the next GM.

"An outsider buying the BROWNS"

Huh...what was Art Modell then? Because he's not from Ohio and he bought the team way back in the day. And for that matter the late Al Lerner wasn't from Ohio either. What are you talking about? Both of those guys are originally from NY.

Now we know...that you DO NOT KNOW!!!!!

The new owner of the Cleveland Browns is Jimmy Haslem, he has been a minority owner in the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years, and will not be relocating the Cleveland Browns.

He has put they entire Front Office under notice that they are being heavily observed, which is code for, I am cleaning house at the end of the year...Expect Mike Holmgren to quit, before he gets fired at the end of the year...and Pat Shumar must win big to survive, and that may not be enough.

Haslem wants his own people in their...this looks like a situation where Bill Cohwer, former Pittsburgh Steeler Coach, and a former Cleveland Browns player can be handed the keys to everything.

I hink a pro team of any kind in Vegas is a bad idea. Pro sports and gambling just don't mix.

How about Goodell moving the Browns to the NFC.

That was the Baltimore Colts who did that. Everybody knew well in advance when Modell moved the the Browns to Baltimore to become the Ravens. There was no sneaking involved in that move.

Consider the source. The only team who could move and nobody would notice is Jacksonville anyway.
