NFL  > Kansas City Chiefs  > Todd Haley really....

Is Todd Haley what Kansas City really looking for. Or will they have to go out next year and find a new coach?

We'll know in a few months. He did well as an O.C. with Warner, Fitzgerald, Bolden and Edgerin James in his pocket. Now he's in charge with Thigpen(maybe), Bowe and Bradley(probably). LJ in a tizzy wanting to leave, Tony G. in a sticky spot, No pass rush, An O-line that can't block and special teams that couldn't stop a high school kid with regularity... Lots of work...it is a tough job to take over. Not to mention he still has to work out his staff... I don't envy this guy at all.

True cball, but he has nowhere to go but up at this point. I think he will do well, but coaches who are hotheads like Parcells tend to have a shorter shelf life. I'm betting he will get us into the playoffs in the next 2-3 years, then will probably move on as a hired gun somewhere else.

Everybody has to start somewhere.Lets just say im not real optimistic about Haley, nothing personal against Haley,I would say the same about any first time coach. The only thing im optimistic about is Pioli is pulling the trigger in the draft this year,NOT PETERSON!!!!And we will have around 40+million dollars in cap space to work with. That will give Haley plenty to work with.

Still think the Chiefs should have kept Herm for another year, worked free agency and draft, and then if he was still not showing progress we could make an entry into the new coaching ranks early in the process next year. I hope I am mistaken and Pioli and Haley have a long and VERY successful run in K.C.

How do you keep a lame duck coach? His staff read the writing on the wall and bolted. You would have had to find guys that wanted to serve under one year contracts as coordinators. Herm clearly doesn't share the same vision for the team as Pioli and you have to have the GM & Head Coach on the same page. Haley brings hope and stability to this franchise. Sure, it would have been nice to land Cowher, but you don't throw away another year and draft guys to fit a Herm Edward's scheme. Its always easy to question the unknown. I understand your hesitation about Haley, but the fact is that we have one of the most highly regarded coaches as our Head Coach and perhaps the best GM in football. CARL IS GONE!!!! Its time to rejoice. We should throw a city wide party and act like we just won the super bowl.

Keeping Herm would have only put off the inevitable. Herm is no NFL coach. a College coach maybe, but not an NFL coach. I am neither overly optimistics nor pessimistic regarding Haley, but i can only hope that the chiefs make the playoffs in 2010. It's just too dang depressing to see them be whipping boys of the AFC.
