Pre-season is for vets to get the kinks out and let some young players prove they can make plays. You see kickoffs being returned when caught 8 yards deep in the end zone, they (the coaches) don't care who wins it's about who can play.
Having said that...
I agree with what you said, the Cowboys looked pretty lame last night, so did the Raiders. Both these teams have a problem with penalties but the Raiders are making big changes, whether they pan out is another matter.
It was only the first preseason game for the Cowboys and many teams look sloppy in their initial appearance. It wasn't a very exciting game but how many preseason games are?
watched the first teams play... not too impressive. a lot of the same old stuff we've seen year after year. you can't judge a team at this point in the PRESEASON, but if we were, i'd say this team is a carbon copy of last year. JJ finally shakes things up in a major way if this team has another .500 year!!

from the penalties perspective, unfortunately true. i think the overall execution will improve as the injured players get back on offense. it was nice to see the defense make some tackles and not let the receivers wiggle free like we saw all last season. I wasn't expecting a fine work of art but I had hoped for something better looking than kids with finger paint.

Sure - by bringing in some more spare-ass free agent offensive linemen that can't even practice?
I might be bitter...

Mark Tuinei would do better but we know where he is.
The Good, Bad and Ugly of training camps and pre-season games.
The good, still time for most teams to improve, it's not how you start the season but how you finish.
The bad, many teams looked ill prepared in their first pre-season outings which has many of us scratching our heads and behinds and hoping some rabbits can get pulled from some hats.
The Ugly, getting through the pre-season and training camps without injuries to key players, several teams have already has sustained some injured players which adds to not only trying to improve but finding suitable replacements for injured players some simply have to make do with what they have because some players are hard to replace. I'd take a crappy pre-season game or games if the team can start the regular season healthy and make improvements as the season progresses.
Here's hoping everyone's team survives the good, bad and ugly of training camps and pre-season games and makes this NFL season a good one.

Of course both teams will have thiers/tittogether come Game #1,so i don't take much stock in preemies anyways, but just a tad less action than i expected isall.

GSH,
He was an idiot getting hitched in one of this last chances, now finds out she's a psycho, and the whole world steps on his johnson.
My main concern after watching the game last night is the Cowboy's offensive line. If that unit continues to provide weak pass protection for Romo, he may wind up on IR.

Chad Johnson made a big mistake in marrying that bimbo and it cost him an opportunity to play for Miami. I still think he can be an asset for some team but he better resist these gold digging bimbos.
