NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Brian Urlacher

If the Bears decide to keep Brian Urlacher after Sept. 8 they will be obligated to pay him 7.5 million. Would this money be better spent on younger players that have many productive years ahead? Jay Cutler is in line for an extended contract.

to me urlacher is the ''heart-n-soul'' of their whole team,....i would think they [team] would honor him with this year's salary knowing he'll be back in 2+ weeks,..........cutting him before the deadline would look bad.........i'm speaking from a fan's point of view about 2000-miles away.

I agree that Brian has been the force behind our defense for many years but the money they would save by cutting him could be used toward a contract extension for Cutler and some of our younger players. This will be a difficult decision for management as most Bears fans are very loyal to Brian.

The Packers signed 38 year old Donald Driver to a new contract in the off season despite the fact that he has lost a step and is used primarily as a decoy in their three wideout sets. Packers fans were divided on this issue because there are some very talented younger receivers trying to win a roster spot.

i would think lovie/management would discuss a cut in pay/with brian to help the team out...?......tom brady did it a couple times ''early'' on , but not towards the end like brian's, ......something tells me brian might be on another team in 2013 [?].

Brian will decide when to walk not the other way around, and that will be in another season or two. Not before. Now nuff said, no reason to say more. GO BEARS!!!

Loses his girlfriend and then perhaps his job? Why is he being given the Ochocinco treatment?

But he showed he can do the quick step by winning Dancing with the Stars.
