MMA  > General MMA  > Turns out it was Henderson that screwed the UFC!!!
September 5, 2012, 12:59 PM
I watched UFC Insider (i think that's the name of the show) on Fuel TV last night. Dana indicated that Dan Henderson withheld his injury from the UFC for 2 weeks.

If Hendo would have let Dana know of the injury when it happened, they would have had 3+ weeks to get a new fighter for Jones.

I still, like most, think Jones should have taken the fight on 8 days notice, but Henderson should also bear some of the criticism for the events cancellation.

The question I have is....why did he hold back the injury?

What hell was that indentation on his stomach? It looked like it was 3" deep.

The other big news from last night was that if GSP gets past Condit, we WILL get the super fight.

GSP vs. A. Silva.

I'm not sure. But it must be contagious since Big Nog has one of those same mystery craters in his back.

because the injury he has is a painful one but not one that would necessarily stop him from fighting....he wanted to give himself the best chance to still fight....Had he told Dana, Dana would have found a replacement and started hyping the new fight which would have left Hendo out even if his knee was okay for fight night...the healing process for his knee is rest, not surgery or rehab...if he had time to rest it enough, in theory, he could have been ready for the fight...

Also, the docs said that Hendo COULD fight with limited lateral movement but it would be painful. THAT is when he changed his story from "I'd fight if I could" to "I feel I need to be 100% for the fans"...so yeah, Hendo is the one that screwed UFC 151 but from his perspective, at 42 yrs old, he doesn't have too many more title shots left to be passing one up if he doesn't HAVE to...

distraction, bait & switch....fan comments were starting to sway from being mainly anti-jones to being more well thought out with the realization that Jones doesn't have the power to scrap a card...Dana didn't want the heat so he offered a tease of what people claim to want so they go "Ooh, look at that" instead of coming after him with torches and pitchforks...

you'll also notice that the bulk of articles have shifted in their stance regarding Jones....right after 151 was cancelled, most writers were on the bandwagon of blaming Jones....now, they've actually looked at reality, taken in some perspectives from more sources, and realize that Jones was never to blame in the first place....
