I don't want to be overy negative, and I know the Cards are still very much in the Wild Card picture, but this team looks dead on it's feet to me.

They've had a nice stretch of series against sub-.500 teams in New York, Milwaukee and San Diego. After winning the first 2 games of that stretch, the Cards have dropped 4 of 5. They are lucky it isn't 5 in a row after Motte blew the save with two outs in the ninth Sunday. You simply must beat the bad teams in September if you are going to advance, and the Cards aren't doing it.

The rotation is unreliable at best right now, and the bullpen is a mess. There is no sign of the passion that they played with last September in making their magical run. I know you aren't going to see a repeat of that every year, but I'd like to see some of the passion and sense of urgency that is missing from this team right now.

I agree, Eleven but that passion has been missing a good portion of the year. If it's not the pitching that sucks, it's the offense or the defense or the injuries.

I'll admit that when Mom got really sick last month, I stopped worrying about them but now that she's gone, I just can't get back into caring about them anymore

They are showing signs of life, but it is against bad teams. Washington and Cincinnati will be tests this last week. Carpenter being back helps the rotation, too.
