NFL  > Carolina Panthers  > Will Dwayne Jarrett live up to the hype?

As much as I like Moose, he can't play forever. That being said does anybody think Dwayne Jarrett will ever be the No.2 guy to Smith that Carolina hoped he would? Taken in the 2nd round in 2007 (45th overall) I remember reading in the paper and the internet everyone though he was the answer. Here's some stats:

2008- 10 Rec. 110 Yds. 0 TDs
2007- 6 Rec. 73 Yds. 0 TDs

Now he didnt really get a whole lot off a chance except in preseason, With Moose being there now and Keshawn last year. In his defense I do remeber some keys plays he converted this year. He averages about 12 Yds. a catch.

as a trojan fan i thought (hoped) he would make an impact in the nfl. at 6'4" with great hands he should be a deadly weapon in the red zone. in college some questioned his commitment, i guess that might still be problem.

I still think he has the chance to be great. He just needs to hit the training room more, plus take advantange of his oppertunities when getting playing time.

Really so far the kid has not been productive....but neither has ur QB really looked for him. He needs to focus and really buckle down on training. Moose might be in the latter years but he trains like he is too..... Jerry Rice trained harder than anyone.....He needs to work that way

I wouldn't call him a bust quite yet. Year 3 for a receiver is almost always the breakout year. Jarrett has shown some promise, but hasn't been special yet. I won't call him a bust until after this year.

My guess is that this year will either be his break-out or good-bye year. I doubt the Panthers will keep him a 4th year without significant progress.

Jarrett is not a bust. If we had a QB that would not only look for Steve Smith 95% of the time (Jake Del need to go home) , we would see how he would produce. For example, when the Falcons had Vick as their QB, you never heard of Roddy White. Now with Matt Ryan, White is one of the upcoming top receivers in the league. We need a QB (Matt Cassel) that will not only just look for 1 Target.

Well it looks like he's going to get his chance now. The Panthers just released Hackett. Hope he's ready. He seems like a real talent.

Kinda looks like we will find out this year what Jarret can do. He always seem to lack confidence. Too many newcomers find the NFL too fast and cannot get with it. Other managers and coaches didn't want Jarret for a reason and why he was passed up while Hurney and Fox thought they won the jackpot.
