More Sports  > The Bottom 10  > LOWER the RIMS (Womens NCAAB)

Yep, Coach Geno Auriemma (UCONN) wants the rim in womens college hoops lowered to promote a better game (womens BB numbers have been dropping off), which will translate into MO' MONEY!

Womens tennis, the most money lucrative in women's professional sports, has it's net the same as the mens. Womens volley ball however is shorter, and their softball field is also a dink smaller.

So what if the girls can't dunk as much...their basketball fundamentals (no "streetball" garbage) are better than the men's anyway...right? YES, it is. So why does this need to be? MONEY is the driving force, and to get the money you need excitement, and when you have that you get the attendance levels up....which means what? MO' MONEY.....and oh yes, higher coaching salaries too.

I knew there was a REAL reason for this....lol.

Keep the rims where they are.

It's funny, at posting there wasn't anything about this here on SI's main page. Then a few hours later an article pops up on the front page about the same thing after ESPN aired this story on it's PTI program.

Agree, leave the hoops alone....

Most men think women's basketball is a joke anyway. Lowering the rims will only reinforce that thinking. Leave the rims where they are.
