IMO, it's mostly in the coaching. I don't think anyone is "scared" of Carrot like they were of Johnson. Back in the day, Johnson cut a promising RB named Curvin Richards....for fumbling one too many times. He fumbled during a game, and Johnson warned him not to do it again. He did later in the game, and the next day, Curvin was history. that sent a message to the rest of the team.

Now, you have bodyguards for players (see Pacman Jones) and babysitters (see Dez Bryant). They cater to much to these "gifted" athletes.

...which drives to the bigger issue - piss poor drafting of players that require "handling" as opposed to motivated "football players".

I agree with your assessment of Red Ball... but I also maintain that these players just aren't that good. That falls on the GM.

You have a point as well. The reason, I think, most aren't any good, is because of JJ's definition of the word "value".

I sure hope what I just heard is wrong, but knowing the dumb moves JJ has made over the years extending the contract of Garrett will just be another stupid move on the long stupid road of Jones.

Evidently Garrett and Jones have a good working relationship.

I liked when Costas said straight up, the one constant through all the lean years has been the GM. Who as we all know should have been fired years AGO!!!!!!

Expect it. Payton is available, but he'd cost JJ about 8 mil a year, and he'd have to dump Carrot, and still pay him , too. Lots of idiots are clamoring about hiring Sean Payton......like now.

Not gonna happen. Carrot will be with us for at least another year or two.
