Announced today that Joker Phillips, Kentucky FB Coach will not return at the end of this season...who else is on the hot seat and not return?

DD? What about LK at USCw? Anyone in the ACC or BigEast?

Lane Kiffin isn't on the hot seat. Jeff Tedford at Cal is another story, though.

If he loses 2 of the next 3? Quite possible with UCLA and ND coming up....ASU isn't a push over either....

Chizik had best be looking around as well

Chiz will need a realtor soon.

Kiffin shepherded the team through sanctions and did very well all things considered. I think they'll give him another year or two to see how he does with full recruiting classes and the incentive of postseason play.

I'm totally with you on Chizik though.

I think a couple of other schools will need to plan coaching searches too, because their current coaches are in line for big paydays at other schools. Louisville, San Jose State, a decent selection of MAC schools...

dooley is already fired, jobs offered to gruden and they are discussing stipulations..

I know...just threw him in to get some discussion going...a regular set of circumstances and he would be on the hot seat with the quality recruits they get.. He doesn't have the tenure of a Mack Brown so he is going to have to get better next year...

This ^^ would make perfect sense if rivalries weren't involved. Ohio State fans would probably agree that it's great to win the first 11 games, but lose #12 to TSUN and the season will be a disappointment. Likewise for USC, Kiffin can go on to lose a 4th game, but it better not be UCLA or ND. There will be talk, and it won't be rational.

Yeah, there's no accounting for the rivalry thing. Using your example, just look at RichRod at TSUN. He might have been given more time with a few wins at Ohio State and Michigan State.

I know it doesn't work this way, but if ND and USC play like they did yesterday the Trojans are going to slaughter the Irish. UCLA is another matter. That should be a great game. A split will leave a bad taste in people's mouths, but I think Kiffin survives that just fine. Next year is more likely to be his hot seat year.

Remember the rumblings last year over Mike Riley at Oregon State? That's all gone now. With SC's talent that's a more likely outcome than Kiffin getting the chop in the near term.

How about the HC at Miss St? Lots of great promise thru the 1st half of the season, but ends up in the middle of the SEC pack. How long before the Dawg fans scream for better SEC results? They stand a 3-2 now, with LSU, Arky and a fast improving Ole Miss. And Arky ain't playing a bunch of no talent walk-ons. MSU could end up 4-4 in the conf. How long before things get hot there?

4-4 would still be an improvement over the past years. He will have a pass for a couple more years, but folks never expected a 7-0 start....or to even be 7-2 at this point.

Remember...this isn't LSU or Bama....not even Aubie or Arkie at this point. Miss State fan's goal is to go to a bowl game and he has done that for the last two years...and again this year.

But I think that next year fans will start to expect a bit more and it could get hot if he doesn't produce. Hopefully TR will return and that should help....and the D should be more experienced.

A bodyguard might not be a bad idea either given the nature of certain fans in that area of the country.

As far as Kentucky is concerned that's a tough place to lure a decent head football coach.

Kentucky has only had two 10+ win seasons since they started playing football 130 years ago.
80 of those years they've won 5 games or less.

UK's best hope is to attract a coordinator or assistant from a mid-level school.
