NFL  > Tennessee Titans  > Tennesee Titans QB situation...
February 11, 2009, 06:25 PM
The Tennesee Titans have okay decent quarterbacks. Kerry Collins is okay but not the best Quarterback around. Vince Young can never throw the ball just runs with it. And Chris Simms hasn't played a real snap since is spleen burst two or three years ago. Who really is the best option of these three guys. Or will they need to sign somebody else??

there are not a lot of options out there for a starting QB...if there were do you think the Lions would have signed Culpepper?...the Titans need to stay the course, sign Collins and ease VY into the game as a slotback...

Kerry Collins is the only true QB out of the group. I love it when team draft these huge Running Qb's out of college and expect them to lead their teams. Qhat a joke.

Vince Young needs to get his head out of his ***** and prove his heart is in the game before he goes anywhere in the NFL. Kerry Collins is the best option, they were almost always in a position to win with him behind center. If Simms has the desire he can pluck the no.2 spot from Young.

I think Collins needs to be the guy in 2009. VY is a bust and should be set free to cheat 1st round draft pick money from a different owner. Chris Simms could be the man of 2010 provided he has truly healed from his injury...mentally as well as physically.

With all the issues Young has had, I still believe he deserves another chance. Just think of how much more dangerous he is on the field than Collins is. He showed us he can take his team to the playoffs. They could have a pretty dangerous duo there with Young and Chris Johnson. Wildcat?

I think Chris has a lot to offer as a potential qb. I also think that the system that they have in place doesn't fit Vince. Kerry is a stop gap in my humble opinion. Kerry did the same as Vince did in leading the Titans to the playoffs and falling short. Vince does add a new wrinkle to the game plan but they lack the offensive speed to frighten anyone. The problem is that they need to open up the O and see what they really can do. I like smash mouth football. The Titans need to prove that they can scare some teams and run with them. I still think in my heart that Vince is the man but he must prove it.

vince young does not have a wrinkle. He can't throw the ball, all he has is the running ability. That would be a good lesson for all GMs. The job of a quaterback in the nfl is to throw the football so stop drafting these running qbs that don't get it. VY is done to me. I always liked chris simms since the tampa days where he looked pretty good. Maybe jay cutler can get out of denver in a couple of years and come home to tennessee.

I am not ready to write off VY quite yet as a decent QB.....for somebody. Who knows? He may mature? His throwing ability is good enough to support his running and vice versa. He'll never be a pin-point precision pocket passer. Now I don't see this maturation happening soon and Kerry only has a few years left. I would love the Titans to start looking for a replacement for Kerry should VY not come through. You have to make future plans based on here and now. Right now VY does not show signs that he will be the Titans QB....especially for the price. We need to make preparations now to move on.

I think that Collins is definitely the man for '09... do you realize that he will break Montana's record for passing yards if he throws for a little over 3,100 this season? I think I read that in a Peter King article on SI...

you can't just give up on vince. he should get another shot at some point... maybe not start next yr but at some point they will have to try him again. i watched both young and simms at UT. i can say simms was really not that good. vince was great in college and really needs more time and a strong mentor to help him develop... so i say give vince another season or two to mature.

If Vince Young can't win over the starting role for QB this season trade him before 2010 draft. Until then i would like to see what kind of damage he can do in the wild cat formation.
