NFL  > San Francisco 49ers  > As of now. Dumb decision.

Why do you make a QB change in the middle of the season if you're going to run the same damn offense? And not as well as Smith was running it... Stupid!

The Niners have now answer for the all mighty Rams. And thank God they benched Smith. Cause his 70% completion percentage and 13 to 5 ratio was unacceptable.

I'm over it. Was a huge Harbaugh fan, but now? He sucks.

Alex Smith WOULD NOT HAVE LOST THIS GAME!

December 2, 2012  04:28 PM ET

coaching lost this game.

December 2, 2012  04:41 PM ET

I have suffered through some tough seasons. But have never been so angry at a team's performance as I was today. I will say this, Alex Smith would not have ran 17 yards backwards into a safety ON 1ST DOWN! He would not have thrown a backward pass 5 yards high at his own 3 yard line. This game is a direct result of arrogant coaching and if they don't name Smith the starter from here on out, it will be one and done in the. Playoffs.

The defense gave up 6 points today, the offense gave up 10. So I take back the comment on the team's performance.

Why in the hell were they playing conservatively for a long Akers field goal after they got the gift of a poor Rams punt in OT?

December 2, 2012  04:48 PM ET

What with all of the stupid penalties?

December 2, 2012  04:50 PM ET

Benching a man with a 70% completion and a 19-5 record under your helm is stupid. Just stupid.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMS!!!!!!!

Conservatively? No, that's waht Alaex Smith does. Just a piss poor performance on the offensive side of the ball. But that's not suppose to happen with Kaepernick. Huh?

Congrats Nerb. Not only did your team win the tie breaker, but they are the direct result of seperating the Niners' locker room.

Harbaugh should have shown more patience and Greg Roman's play calling relies on to many cute diagrams IMO. Seahawks can sneak up on the West title and steal it from the 49ers if the play calling continues the way it is....

December 2, 2012  04:56 PM ET

I hope Harbaugh is satisfied with his decision. You know, going against the man who did nothing to lose his job.

They are right there, shame on the Niners.

Still 49ers should get into the playoffs, but if they don't make the NFC title game than Coach H just wasted a long season....

Alex Smith missed one game with the concussion and was cleared to play, Harbaugh should be thankful he now knows that he has a good backup QB if he needs one, but Smith should not lose his job because of an injury...IMO!!

I agree!

I think that there was true hubris in the play selection and in the selection of QB. What Eric happened to the Bill Walsh maxim of taking what the defense gives? There were many times when the Niners could have audibles into a run play when the rams dropped nine in coverage. Also when that happens, why didn't Kap scramble o find an open receiver to a big gain. He did oncor twice, but mostly settled for 4 yard runs. Or the outlet pass to runnin backs. It was also clear that Gore feeds off of the change of pace. Without Hunter, Lamichael James can play this role. Where was he?

December 2, 2012  09:53 PM ET

Why didn't the Niners stretch the field vertically? Even if deep balls are not successful, they open up the run game.

More on the hubris comment. It seemed that the Niners called their plays in a vacuum. They did not adjust to the Rams defense. I think they will see this when they review the film.
