NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Week #15 Green Bay Packers! Do or Die!!!
December 15, 2012, 08:19 AM
Well it comes down to this game and next, to save the season. And the Press is calling for a GREAT game from Jay to win it. That's our only chance they say! And if Jay can't do it will they blame it all on JAY AGAIN!!!

The Packers are very strong in most postitions. Oh sure they have problems on their defense, but honestly what Packer team doesnt' have defensive problems? It's their offense namely QB Aaron Rogers and other QB's in their history that's their bread and butter. This makes me wonder???

If Rogers was on the Bears would the Bears be in the Packers shoes? If the Packers had drafted Urlacher, Singletary, and Butkus would the Packers be the defensive squad that the Bears are known for? Simply, NO!!! to both questions. It's the philosophy behind the teams that makes the difference.

The Packers are an offensive team, while the Bears are a DEFENSIVE AND SPECIAL TEAMS TEAM!!! It's their philosiphy. Oh sure the Bears led the league in offense back in the Payton era EONS AGO!!! But that was led by a fantastic runner and running game. We only had an AVERAGE passing game! But we could count on them to do it if the defenses put 8 men in the box! The passing game wasn't great, but it was capable of rescuing the team IF the opponent sold out to stopping the running game!

However the Bears have NOT had the dominating offensive line and running game since then. But speaking of the 85 Bears that squad, they would have died if Jim McMahon hadn't rescued them with his arm several times!!! Minnesota comes to mind and the Super Bowl! Oh sure the defense was the king in the Super 'Bowl, but only AFTER McMahon and his arm had given the Bears the lead.

Ok enough history, my point is this, it USUALLY takes a balanced team to win in the NFL. And it ALWAYS takes a BALANCED team to start a dominating era!

These reporters are decieving themselves if they think that Jay Cutler can win the game on his own. Oh maybe once or twice, but he must have an offensive line and the players around him to do the job! Which this team just doesn't have!

So I expect another Packer victory. I will be yelling like crazy at the TV and cursing like a BEAR's FAN at anyone who gets in the way of the Bear's doing it, but really, this team is overmatched and the Bears can't do any adjustments to solve the problems.

First because of the players available on the offensive line. 2nd because of the coaches who are not the Best the NFL has to offer. Lovie has been good enough to be a teaser, but not a winner. He gets us close, but not close enough. Which means HE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!!! It's the same message we old timers have been saying on here for 5?? seasons???

Fortunately after this season, the Bears (GM Phil Emery), IS going to get a new Coach and hopefully start a new era of Bears DOMINATION!!! Also fortunately a good coach in the NFL can make an OFFENSIVE, OFFENSIVE line in one off season! So a good coach is what we need! Someone who is willing to come in and get rid of all this dead weight we have that can't pull the apple cart, and protect the franchise in JAY CUTLER!!! NOW that's the TRUTH!!!

Really, could it be worse??? I would rather have a bad team and KNOW that you need to fix things than all this teasing that we have endured under Lovie!!! How about YOU??? GO BEARS!!!

This is one of the best read ups on this game that I have seen.

Actually both teams have injuries in their offensive line as well as on defense. This game is a toss up.

True about the injuries, but the Packers O-line is so much better to start with that it's disgusting! GO BEARS!!!

Mother when are you going to root for a good team? GO BEARS!!!

Well the Bear's season should be over. The real sad thing is that the Bears will probably win the next two games! This will only lower our chances of getting a good draft pick. Oh thank you Lovie Smith, you have done it again. There are many ways to ruin an NFL team and you Lovie have done most of them to the Bears. In my eyes the only honorable thing you could do is to resign your job now. Go Bears!!!

The Bears have been winning with great defense for a long time but now it's getting old and our offense hasn't picked up the slack. Our window of opportunity is closing fast.

Well they should win at Arizona but I wouldn't bet on it and I have them losing to the Lions at Ford Field. Problem is does Emery do what most of us want and fire Lovie and hire a competent coach or does he give Lovie another pass and let him finish out his contract and then decide based on the outcome of next season.

I'm afraid that the Bears will win BOTH of these upcoming games! It will just put us in a worse position for the draft. Losing one or both would help us alot in the draft!

I keep talking about the draft since we have NO chance in making the playoffs or doing anything constructive in them. I appologize to any Bear fans who are hoping for the best, I've already given up hope for anything positive coming out of this season!

You brought up something I hadn't considered GSH1. I really didn't even give it a thought that Lovie could be kept on! I know he has 9 lives, but he has not shown to me and I thought Phil Emery that he was a winning caliber coach this season. Which was what I thought Lovie had to do to be kept on after this season. I was postitive that Lovie's tenure with the Bears was coming to an end. Thanks for ruining my Christmas!!! lol. No it's not your fault but if Phil doesn't fire Lovie after the season is over it will DEFINATELY ruin my new year! GO BEARS!!!

I will now admit that the Bears need a new head coach and Emery has to do a better job of drafting. The OL looks like swiss cheese and the defense is getting old.

Finally Drip Drop! The only thing I don't like about your statement is that Phil Emery has only drafted once for this team so far. I put the drafting problem on JA not Phil Emery. Phil did a fantastic job of bringing in talent this year.

Phil's problem and one I hope he won't repeat is that he trusted Lovie and company and believed them when they said they could make this offensive line work! That's why Phil did very little to improve the offensive line this past offseason in my opinion. He trusted the wrong people. A mistake I don't think that he will EVER repeat! At least I hope not!!!

I'm so sure that Phil will get rid of Lovie after this total fall apart we have suffered through the second half of this season. It's Phil's job to shape and be the face of the franchise. He IS the Chicago Bears.

Added all together, he doesn't like looking like a fool! He has assembled some very good skill position players and a fantastic Defensive Line. He added players where we needed them the most. It takes more time to get players ready to play in the skill positions than in any other spot on offense. Granted we could have had more help at Linebacker, but you just don't push Icon's like Brian Urlacher out the door before their time.

This to me is my feelings of Phil's assembling of the Bears. Now it's time to assemble coaches that can teach the players correctly and who can develop players correctly!!! This is Lovie's main shortcoming, he just doesn't find any diamonds in the rough! Something that Mike Ditka was oh so good at! Oh he can develop good players IF he is given them, but finding diamonds in the rough has not happened in the years of he has been here.

Lovie's other shortcoming is he cannot beat a coach when the players skills are even. If it comes down to Lovie vs any quality coach in the NFL, Lovie ALWAYS comes out second best! ALWAYS!!! For years his lack of 1/2 time adjustments has been legendary! Just look at the Seattle games the last two years for proof!!!

Lovie has lost more close games in his lack of 1/2 time adjustments than Abe Gibron or they sent the wrong Neil Armstrong to the moon !!! or any other Bears coach I can remember. I go back to 1965 as a Bear's fan and have NEVER seen a worse coach on the Bears than Lovie, IN THESE TWO CATAGORIES!!! Yes I/we/ The Bears, have suffered through worse coaches, but they didn't tease us with being so close, and yet so embarrasingly far from being a complete coach. GO BEARS!!!

Right now I'd take alost anyone for a head coach over Lovie. I'm just that disgusted and embarrased! I'm hopefull that Phil Emery will find a good or better than good coach for the Bears next year.

A new head coach might actually have a contender for the Super Bowl by the end of the season with the talent the Bears have at the skill postitions on offense!

Fortunately Jerry Jones isn't a head coach in the NFL. haha. GO BEARS!!!

Hanging in there at about 9-7 8-8? is just 'prickteasing' The Fans.

Which means'give it too an inch at a time, not the whole sausage at once' scenario.

So yer owner gives yershittyHC a odd 2 year extention, Mike browns been selling **** on Marvin lewis for years!!

Get rid of both! i say!

December 19, 2012  05:31 AM ET

That's exactly the way I see it EZ. If they don't get rid of Lovie only bad things can happen to the Bears. That's why I'm sure that Phil Emery will get rid of Lovie. Which means we might get a good coach or better to rplace him. Cower is out there, and so are some others that could restore the Bears to their former glory. GO BEARS!!!!

Two more wins and we will finish 10-6. I can't see Lovie getting fired if he does that.

Even if we don't make the playoffs? Won't this be twice in 3 years with a 10-6 recond missing the playoffs???!!! Personally, I disagree, I think/hope he's gone even IF WE DO make the playoffs! Phil Emery trusted and believed Lovie and Mike Tice when they said that they could make a good offensive line out or what they had so there was no reason for Emery to bother with bringing in new players in either the draft or Free Agency! Still think we are keeping him? When they can't train these players to block adaquately in TWO seasons together!!!! Lovie just can't train players properly. And he can't beat another team's 1/2time adjustments! Both reasons enough to fire him according to me! GO BEARS!!!

It also might depend on if Emery really is calling the shots or if Phillips & The McCaskeys decide they don't want to eat the last year of Lovie's 6 mill contract.

First-year Bears general manager Phil Emery has been given authority to evaluate the coaching staff, which might loom as a troubling sign for Smith if he fails to take Chicago somewhere special. La Canfora hinted that Emery might pluck fruit off the Bill Belichick tree for the next Bears coach.

Smith isn't about to be fired. As it stands, the longtime coach has the rest of this campaign and another full season to shape perceptions in Chicago, but it's far from a vote of confidence.

Lovie Smith, Bears reportedly not talking contract

The Speculation continues below and at this point I'd say it's only 50/50 chance.
