I respect the fact that this man has to live with that night for the rest of his life. But I also respect the fact that he made a mistake that cost the life of another man. I don't see how the Cowboys thought it was okay to allow him to watch the game on the sideline when he clearly should have been suspended. This is not the message we should be sending.

Jerry Jones gave the okay for him to be on the sideline. Jones was wrong.

.......keep him off the sidelines,......put him on ''unable to play/list'' for the remainder of the year. [m.-op.],........the patriots most likely would've ''cut-him'' ASAP,esp. after he killed somebody = they might've cut him for DUI [alone], esp. if he wasn't a starter.

I'm more interested in what caused the about-face by JJ.

Did some kind of new evidence pop up that made the Cowboys organization want to distance themselves from Josh Brent?

He was allowed to be there because Jerry Brown's mother wanted him to be. They did it in respect to her wishes. But, when Brent saw that it was creating a scene, he left. He won't be there anymore.

Who is running that damn team? JJ should have known that his presence was not right thing to do. It's ok for him to be supported by the team out of the public view but that was not only astonishing to see him on the sideline, I think it was offensive, especially to anyone who has been affected by a drunk driver.

The organization is still supportive of Brent... across the board.

As far as him being on the sideline... I tend to believe Garrett when he said that no one (including Jerrah) knew Brent would be there. If nothing else, the Cowboys are as media-savvy as any team in the league (Rich Dalrymple is one of the best PR guys out there) and they would have vetted that one out pretty quickly.

I would not be surprised one bit if Brent is at the game this Sunday... in a sky box.

better he watch in the locker room. I don't think it would be wise to have the cameras catch him sitting with JJ.

I can only tell you what I've read, and that's because of Brown's mother. Brent left the sideline during the 3rd quarter, and never returned. I doubt he'll be back on the sideline.

This subject is really unchartered territory, I mean no team that I can think of in any sport has had to deal with this.

You have the defense of innocent until proven guilty, what's 'right' and what's 'wrong' and then throw in the victim's mothers wishes.

Hopefully non will have to again.

What I fail to get is these players are all drilled about their behavior in public. They have a free ride anywhere anytime from their teams, somebody is on call 24/7 waiting to take them home, yet they still drive drunk.

You know let's be honest. How many of us can say we never drove while drunk? Everyone makes mistakes and to still be friends with someone that make a horrible mistake does not diminish their friendship. I am not surprised they wanted him at the game, also not surprised many find it wrong he was there.

If my best friend made a horrible mistake I would not disown them. These guys are close knit teammates that play an adult war game that could paralyze them for life on any play. You don't just throw that bonding out regardless of public opinion.

I agree with you, but, as with anything you read, what is the real truth here? Can you believe any of these writers? I read where the mother wanted Brent to be on the sidelines, and then in the one I just posted, it said she wanted the team to "be close" to Brent....And, the team mates had asked him to be there.

Which one do we believe, if any?

Very true. This was a very tragic thing and should not be tolerated by Jerry Jones.

His butt should have been nowhere near the bench

I agree...he should not be on the side lines, I find it in very bad taste.
