NFL  > General NFL  > How 'Bout Them Cowboys!?

Yes, it's been a disappointing season. Ups and downs, mainly downs, but still mostly a season of pure, unadulterated disappointment. Congratulations to the Redskins for a game well managed and played. At least the NY Giants have been removed as a division winner and playoff contender by one of the teams they had complained about earlier, so you got your comeuppance, Mr Mara. Hopefully, your Giants will take the place of the formerly cellar dwelling Redskins for a few years.

I don't mind so much the Cowboys losing, because they didn't have their full contingent of healthy starters for most of the year, and the injury bug just kept on biting, and biting, until the Cowboys were just a semblance of the team they started with. Especially on defense.People say that "Injuries are no excuse", which is hogwash. This "Next man up" thing is BS as well. When a starter goes down, does the team put another starter there in his place? NO. The replacement is a back up for a reason, and that reason is usually because he's not good enough to be a starter. More than half of the Cowboys's defense were back ups, street players, or someone they found on a practice squad to plug holes.

But, I had no....dreams of this team making the playoffs. I knew they wouldn't be, but it wasn't because they didn't try. They just weren't strong enough on defense. They weren't strong enough to "run with the big dogs", but instead continued to "p.o.o.p with the puppies".

The offense didn't look right last night, either. The play calling is still suspect, the O line, although somewhat better, still s/u.c.k/s canal water.

Oh well. Again, congrats to the Redskins fans who have suffered for many years. Maybe they will keep the Lombardi in the NFC East.

Given the defense they have been running out there for the better part of half a season, it is rather amazing they even had a chance to get to the playoffs. The thing that continues to bother me about the team is Romo. Once again, he came up small in a big game.

......''how bout them texans''....?!,........hey ,....ya'll gotta a second lifeboat to hop in !

Yeah, I know. I was really surprised last week when they lost to the Saints and still could win the division. I had all but accepted the fact that they were out of contention then.

The first 2 INT's didn't really hurt last night, other than to stall their drives. But, I guess that's hurt enough. The third one was the killer. I think it has a lot to do with the play calling, making adjustments, and the frigging O line.

But, the better team won. Garrett also came up short as well as Romo.

Yeah, the Texans look as if they've been force fed a dose of "Can't do", or something. Pitiful.

But then again, the Colts were inspired by the return of their coach. My hats off to them for a job well done.

That's a tough call. I live closer to Houston than Dallas, but I know EZ wants his team to do well, too.

One and done and Romo will still have more playoff wins than Schaub.
