I honestly didn't think it would happen, Virginia McCaskey has been a huge Lovie Smith supporter and I really thought she may intervene but this shows me they are letting Emery do what he was hired to do.

I had a huge list.....LOL starting with the obvious Gruden and Cowher, then Pro assistants of Jay Gruden, Kyle Shanahan.........I prefer going offensive minded coach this time around. I hope no more coaches with a defensive background as times has changed in the NFL and it's a passing league and I believe/hope Emery goes with an offensive minded coach.

......will urlacher $urvive.....??
I think they might offer him a one year deal to stay and possibly finish out his career but it will depend on Urlacher and the offer IMO. I also wonder what they do if anything with Hester, he's not on the books for a ton but still more than his performance based solely on his return ability and not as a W.R. and he didn't get a return this year and didn't really contribute a lot as a #3 W.R. Not to take away anything he's done in the past and possibly a Hofer for his kick off punt returns but dollar for performance he's not worth his salary IMO. Marshall, Jeffery and Bennett are the top three W.R.'s on the team currently.
Emery also has to determine if Cutler is their long term Q.B. or not, his contract is up after next season so there is another decision Emery has to make and probably the new coach will have some say in the matter.
Uhhh. Andy Reid???

I reckon it is congratulations to you Bears fans. It seems to be what you've asked for. Sorry it came at the expense of missing the dance.
Here's to the best man for the job.

BYE, BYE Lovie!!! NOTHING can ruin the next offseason now! As long as it's true that Lovie is gone! I hope they keep Juluis Peppers and give Jay an extension. Like GSH1 said it's up to Phil Emery and I think that the Bears can ONLY get better now that we got rid of Lovie.
Hey we have gotten rid of JA and Lovie in consecutive years. We have to be getting better! I think Phil Emery is PROOF of that! GO BEARS!!! Super Bowl winners to be in 2014 or 2015!!! I
n my opinion!!!

Mike Holmgren would be a good choice. He is good at working with QB's and has a winning track record.

I believe it is time to clean house, the defense is old and the offensive line is a disaster.

I could get along with him, Cowher, or Gruden. At least they would be my favorites. I would even take Andy Reid!!! I just want to see who Phil Emery is going to choose and I'm going to support him as much as possible! Untill he proves he doesn't deserve it! But from seeing how Phil Emery has worked out this past year I'm very hopeful. A year ago, I would have wanted Mike Tice, unfortunately the way he did with the offensive line has cooled my opinion on him.
I just think that with the players/talent on this team that the Bears are very close to getting to the Super Bowl!! I really think that Phil can fix the offensive line in just one offseason and with the proper coach the Bears could really make some noise next season. GO BEARS!!!

I think the decision might have been made with losing 5 of 6 games towards the back end of the season to playoff caliber opponents, it revealed exactly where the Bears were and why they missed the playoffs again, a change was necessary IMO.

No thanks, I think Holmgrens best days are behind him, G.B. was his best as an NFL coach.

The defense is very good! The offense needs the line fixed and a productive Tight End. It might also be a good idea to get a good Full Back, but that's up to the new coach obviously. The special teams were a disappointment to me this year. The fact that Devin just needed one or two good blocks on any return and never go them really saddens me.
The most important thing to me about a new coach is his tactics and his abliltiy to coach up new players. Both of which Lovie was terrible at! GO BEARS!!!

Denver's Mike McCoy is being mentioned as one of the Candidates Emery is seeking permission to interview.
I doubt if Holmgren is going to coach again. I think he will stay in the GM role. But I would be happy to have him as a coach. I am pleased with Phil Emery and want to see how he can build this team up in his second off season.
GO BEARS!!!
