So again..what this comes down to is the owner/GM made yet another dumb decision bringing in Ryan.

Jerry is good at making goofy decisions.
Don't judge too quickly Tx...
Ryan might have improved the team in yardage allowed, but they still stunk in points given up and turn overs forced.
Garrett was never a fan of Ryan to begin with and did not want him hired back in 2010.
With Garrett around, Ryan is an obvious fire...despite how we feel about JG's play calling. They might still bring in an Offensive Coordinator too.
Garrett is a good head coach, just a poor play caller and Head Coach. He obviously can not do both.
We get another play caller. We get another Defensive Coordinator and switch to the 4-3 and we are heading the right way.
Garrett is getting the talent here in youth...that is a good thing.

Just seems they were better suited to stay a 4-3 and should not have brought Ryan in to change to a 3-4.

Actually Tx, Parcells switched the team to the 3-4 when he was here.
When Wade Phillips was hired, he was brought in to continue that and be the Head Coach.
Ryan took over the D while Garrett took over the Team. Garrett never wanted Ryan.
And yes...you are right...we have guys on the team that are way better suited for the 4-3.

3-4 or 4-3 depends on the type of athletes a team has in their interior line. Both schemes are effective providing a team has the type athlete that fits either one.

He is also good at irritating Cowboys fans.

Jerry Jones had to do something after two 8-8 seasons...What else could he have done, fired his son-in-law Jason Garrett?
I am not a Cowboys or Jason Garrett fan, l but marrying the bosses daughter is very good job security.
Rob Ryan...scapegoat

You are spot on sir...
Ratliff is not even at 300lbs and usually you want a space eater in the middle of a 3-4 alignment.
Ratty is better off next to Hatcher, who is slightly bigger on a 4-3 line.
Ware and Spencer were DE's to start...they have been asked to cover and rush which to me, is Dallas's biggest problem in covering guys in the flat.
Let Ware and Spencer pin their ears back and go...let Lee, Carter and Butler use that speed to run down backs and TE's.

As long as going to a 4-3 does not divert us from drafting O-Linemen... I'm OK with it.

I'm with you.
3-4 is better suited when a team doesn't have a lot of good defensive linemen and stronger linebacker, but does need a strong nose tackle. It is the opposite with the 4-3. This is the reason that Joe Lee Dunn created the 3-5-3 stack defense. The defense under Parcells, Phillips, and Ryan ran a variation of the 3-4 and used a lot of 4-3 packages already because of offense personnel in passing situations.
It was also obvious that fundamentals weren't be taught. For example, Claibourne got hurt when he was trying to make a tackle while looking at the turf and also got hit by a teammate while he was looking down at the turf.
I would like to see Wannstedt brought back or Zimmerman since he probably won't get a chance to interview a HC. Maybe JJ will give Zimmer that chance

Zimmer was a good coach...he only left because Parcells came in and went to the 3-4.
I agree....our best players are 4-3 players.
Ware and Spencer were DE's in college and were asked to cover. Nothing pains me more than asking the best pass rusher in the NFL to drop in coverage and then he gets beat to boot.
Ratliff is not even 300lbs. He is a 1 gap DT all the way. He needs another DT next to him to prevent double teams....Hatcher is that guy.
You put Sean Lee at MLB obviously and then you have Carter and Butler on the outside. Butler is said to be one of the best pass rushers on the team after Ware but just can not seem to crack the every day starters...having him blitzing off the edge around Ware would be a nice scheme.
Barry Church was looking nice at Saftey until he went on IR. Sensabaugh is average and of course we have Mo and Carr back as well.
I like the Dallas D, especially in the 4-3. Now, lets just improve the depth on D and get some better blockers to replace Free and Bernadeau.

I don't know whether he's a scapegoat or not, but I agree it's very hard to place blame on him for the defense this year with those injuries they suffered (5 starters, 2 key back-ups, One-armed Ware, etc.). Unless he somehow contributed to that, but I'm not aware of anything negative re conditioning, practices, etc. I've always liked watching him on the sideline--very passionate and fiery. Yeah, maybe he is a scapegoat?
Jerry never liked coaches with egos as big as his. I'm not surprised that Ryan got booted out.

I agree, it would be nice if we would. But we seem to have a penchant for drafting LB's very early in the draft every year.
