NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Bears off season plans and changes what do you want or expect considering our new coaches?
January 24, 2013, 02:21 AM
What do you expect to see the Bears doing this next year? The coaches are in place. They have certain tendencies, so what do you as fans expect them to do?

One plus, I don't think Marc Trestman will be out coached as frequently as Lovie was constantly being outcoached and confused by things opposing coaches were doing to him and the Bears. I think Marc can think on his feet and won't have to use timeouts to come up with a new plan when the opponents cross up the Bears and do something unexpected! I also expect Cutler and the Bears to be more prepared for these cross ups that opponents might try during the games too! Watch the timeouts and if they have all 3 in the last 2 1/2 minutes of each 1/2, I will be proven right!

How long will it take to make this team an offensive power house? How long will it take to make this offensive line effective? Will they change Gabe Carimi to Left Tackle? Can Gabe play at O-left tackle or will they have to bring in someone else? Who? How many new linemen will be needed to be brought in? How many other offensive players will need to be brought in? What positions do you expect them to improve on by bringing in more talent? A #2 Speed WR ???

On defense will they run the 4/3 or 3/4? Will they be able to resign Brian Urlacher? How many players that are Free Agents will they be able to keep? How about Linebackers?

What do you the fans think? What directions do you think the Bears will or should go? How long will it take this team to get to the Super Bowl? Any and all ideas are welcome. GO BEARS!!!

I see a big turnover in personnel. The OL must be addressed and the defense must find a replacement for Urlacher. Hopefully Trestman can help Cutler in making better decisions.

F.A. might help. on the front line. and the draft.

What's yer opinion on what positions in the draft should be?

Realize this, one season in the CFL Trestman had the WORST line! Next season the SAME Personel and he had one of the BEST!!! Coaching and play calling, made ALL the difference!!! The Bears have two #1 round picks on their O-line, so we will see just how good of a coach Trestman is won't we?!!! I for one am optimistic! Go Bears!!!

Like you say EZ T.A. might help. It all depends on who they get there, what and who Trestman thinks can be coached up, and then they will decide on who to draft.

I'm really curious how good of a coaching job Trestman can do with OUR personell ! I hope he says hey we have some good players on this team and all they need is an off season of coaching to get them playing well. It could happen! I just can't wait to see who he likes and doesn't like. I'm sure Hallas hall is a very busy place right now. Especially in the film rooms. GO BEARS!!!

Sorry F.A. not T.A.

Sgt, my personal miracle would be seeing Marvin Lewis as the GM of Cincy.

But 'raining on parades' seems too be yer forte

Is this in addition to his head coaching job or to get him out of being a head coach EZ? GO BEARS!!!

Oh but I don't. I just have a terrible opinion of Lovie!!! I finally came up with two people who Lovie did teach to become decent players from "No Where" Henry Melton 4th round choice, and Daniel Manning a 2nd round choice. Neither of whom to me are actually"finds" since they both were 4th round or higher picks. But these are the best of any that I can think of that Lovie has every "Coached up". When I talk of discovering a man, I usually mean a free agent or very late pick 6th or 7th rounder who becomes a starter.

Most NFL coaches "find" one or two players every year or two from "somewhere"! Lovie has never found ONE!!! I say considering Trestman's reputation and past that he will find some and he will find some for the Bears in the very near future. Plus I say that Trestman will make the players that the Bears have now better because of better coaching!!! Are you getting the idea that I have a very low opinion of Lovie being able to coach up players??? GO BEARS!!!!

January 24, 2013  10:54 PM ET

My point is this, that Lovie has found NONE, even a normal coach should find some! And a superior coach can find as many as 4 or 5 on his team at one time!!! Doubt me? Go back to the roster of the 85 Bears and see how many finds Iron Mike had!!! GO BEARS!!!

What would be a miracle...maybe 10 Wins.

Your sarcasm and trolling are ridiculous.

Didn't we just do that? How about a playoff trip no matter how many wins? GO BEARS!!!

In order for the Bears to become a legitimate playoff contender they will need an upgrade in the OL plus better decision making by Jay Cutler. The defense looks solid but Urlacher & Peppers show signs of slowing down and should be replaced.

No addition,just GM.

So you are wanting a new coach in Cinci. Right? Any idea of who? I doubt they will do this with him on a current two? year playoff run. Go BEARS!!!

I don't know why, but the defense is starting to worry me with the possible loss of Urlacher. The MLB is the QB of the defense and could drop this defense from the top 10 to the bottom 10 in just one season. I KNOW we need SERIOUS help on offense, but we cannot neglect the defense either.

Now in my mind is the key to seeing just how good Phil Emery is if he can fix both areas this offseason! He will also get points in my mind if he at least tries to fix the problem. GO BEARS!!!

I feel that the coaching changes were necessary for the Bears to move forward and if Jay cannotworkout this year then he goes too. I think that the Bears need to trade for good personnel on the OL and WR positions. I name to look at trading is Hester, he hasn't done anything for the last two years to help move us forward to the next level. Urlacher should be signed for at least one more year and then give him the option of being the LB cosach - he is great with staff and has alot of knowledge.

Interesting thoughts, even if I disagree with some.

1. Dumping Lovie and hiring BOTH Phil Emery and Marc Trestman, was the smartest thing this franchise has done since they hired Jim Finks and Mike Ditka EONS ago. IMO I expect just about the same type of result or BETTER from this innovative hard working pair. What would you think of multiple Superbowl wins?

2. Jay is going to be fine maybe the Offensive MVP of the NFL/NFC or some other award next year. Comeback player of the year? Most improved? Easily MVP of the Bears!

3. Trade Hester? What would anyone give us for him? A 4th or 5th round pick? We need speed so badly why trade it away? I think he's worth a lot more than that especially if Trestman can make him into a true offensive player. I say give Marc a chance and then let him and Phil decide in training camp.

4th I don't know about Urlacher. He's being very quiet and only time will tell. It could go either way with his volatile personality. I think he's waiting to see what the Bears offer him in free agency before he sounds off. He doesn't want his mouth to cost him money. He isn't stupid you know! ha ha. GO BEARS!!!

I am SICK of Something!!! A few years ago the Pittsburgh Steelers with the Bus (Jerome Bettis) used the Bears as their key game/team to beat to propel them into the Super Bowl. Now this season so are the 49'rs with their new QB Kellen Kopernick!!!

This is at least TWICE that this has happened to us with Lovie as a coach! To all of you Lovie lovers out there isn't this by it's self reason enough to fire the man!!! I'm thinking there might have been a third team that said just about the same thing too, and Green Bay could have said it at least once or twice in the last couple of years too!

I for one, am very glad that we have a GM with a pair of intestines who is making the big decisions to make the Bears better, and is not happy to be good enough to be someone ELSE'S measuring stick!!! GO BEARS!!!
