From what I understand, it's about Carp and the news is not good
February 5, 2013  02:30 PM ET

Ugggggghhhhhhhhh.........

Carp will not be pitching in the 2013 season but it sounds like they are going to look at the youngsters, vs. Lohse

February 5, 2013  02:37 PM ET

Lynn, Kelly, Rosenthal and Miller have been told to come to camp ready

Glad he's shutting himself down. After throwing his bullpens, he not only had the zingers and numbness but afterward, he's had some bruising and redness in the shoulder and arm

As much as I hate to say it, it's probably time to hang them up. I'd hate to see his post-career health be an issue because he keeps trying to pitch.

What a pro he has been for the Cardinals. Such a key part of two Championships, and many playoff teams.

I don't think he's retiring yet - they were talking about him checking out the people at Mercy - but I have that ugly feeling in my tummy.

Have a great day

His post-career is very much in the front of his mind but I would like for him to get his arm/neck/shoulder fixed.

My heart is broken

Very sad because of the personal admiration I have for Carp but not shocking. As strong willed as he is even he can will nerves to regenerate. I pray whatever the root cause is is identified and fixed from a quality of life going forward perspective, baseball is secondary at this point.

Carp is having a press conference on Monday, I think, at 11:00 am

I'll have to check that out......

Carp is still Carp. Says he isn't giving up and hasn't ruled out pitching this year. Gotta love the spirit and attitude, even as I think he'd be better off retiring.

I agree about retirement but I love that competitive spirit

Yeah, I think that is what we all love about Carp. He's always been a complete bulldog on the mound.

News doesn't sound good on Furcal. I wonder how far behind Carp Furcal is on the retirement front.
