NFL  > San Francisco 49ers  > I LEFT 1/2 MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO.

By 1/2 of my heart I'm referring to the fact that the 49ers during the playoffs and throughout the season and going back to when Harbaugh took over in 2011 seldom show up during the first halves of games.

THe coaching staff and especially Greg Roman the offensive coordinator have a very poor track record of coming out strong and dominating a game in the first half. In 2011 the 49ers in 6 of their games were held under 7 points in the first half and in 11 of their games they failed to score a TD in the first half and depending soley on David Akers to carry the team in scoring. In 2012 the 49ers were held under 7 points in the first half of games 9 times and in 6 of those games they never scored a TD in the first half. Yet their record for the last 2 seasons is 27-09-01.

The 49er offense got slightly better in 2012 but was still hampered by the same ineffectual play calling by Greg Roman ( That is why no team hired him as a head coach). The special teams play and the defense of the 49ers was actually not as good as the 2011 season. The defense forced more turnovers in 2011 and they also had that long streak of not allowing a rushing TD or 100 yard individual rusher.

The outlook is bright for the 49ers- they have an established QB that will get better, they have an excellent offensive line, they have a good tandem of running backs. They need a big TE and WR, they also need to find a Center to replace Goodwin, chance are 2014 will be his last year with the 49ers.

The defense needs to find a replacement for Issac Sopoaga NOW, Not sure if Will Tukuafu ( 6'4"/300 lbs, 29 years old) , Ian Williams ( 6'1"/ 305 lbs, 24 years old ), or Ricky Jean-Francois ( 6'3"/ 295 lbs, 27 years old ) can fill in Jean-Francois is also a free agent, so we'll see if the 49ers can sign him. The secondary is really the weak link in the defense and needs to be rebuilt starting NOW. My feelings about Goldson are; give him an offer and if he refuses let him go. He is only known as a big hitter and not a very good coverage guy and also think about getting rid of Whitner and Rogers.

Oh and I forgot the 49ers will have more draft picks in 2013 than any other team in the NFL with 14 picks ( 5 in the first 3 rounds ) . They will probably get more draft picks when they trade Alex Smith. THe question will then be, what do we do with all those picks?

Keep Whitner and Goldson, replace Rogers and Culliver.

And yes, it is frustrating how long it takes the Niners to get going. I think it had more to do with "managing" the game. I believe next year will be different with Kaepernick ready to make his first full year a winning one. Redemption time.

It seems as though Roger Goodell feels that Cary Williams shouldn't be fined. Williams is the CB of the Baltimore Ravens who pushed a Referee during the Super Bowl. Pushing a referee is probably the worst penalty a player can commit, it calls for instant ejection followed by a fine ( normally ). It seems that Cary Williams excuse was that he didn't know the person he pushed was a referee.

Lets see Goodell recently fined Tom Brady ( $10,000.00 ) for sliding with his cleats in a menacing position. Then he fined Frank Gore ( $10.000.00) because he played a game with his socks rolled down.

Are you still upset over that game?
