They were talking on the Post-Dispatch this morning that the Cards have shut down 15 and talking about a trade Hardy for Adams. What do all of you think about it or stay with what you have. Hardy is under contract through 14 at 7 mill a year.

If I am the GM I am going with 16,33,8,or 38 as my shortstop and keeping Adams as a back up first baseman in 14 and save the money they would have to pay Hardy for the next two seasons.

I tend to agree. Hardy would obviously supply a little more offensive pop than the guys we have, but I don't think I'd make that move right now.

Bredan Ryan would sure look good right about now ... that said, give the job the Kozma and see if anyone better is available towards the trade deadline.

I don't know what the Orioles have in their system but given the scarcity decent big leagues SS I doubt they entertain trading Hardy.

I agree. Play Kozma every day use Cedeno as his backup and see where you are in June/July. Then look to make a deal for a shortstop if needed. By that time you will have a better feel for how the pitching staff is shaking out as well as Matt Adams, so you'd be in a better position to evaluate your trade chips.

So now Furcal needs TJ surgery and is out for the year. Doesn't change my opinion of things. Play Kozma, see how that goes for three months and then decide if you want to look to make a deal at the trade deadline for a shortstop.

Agreed. Still begs the question ... how come everyone on the outside saw this coming and the people closest to the situation and player didn't?

I agree. I wouldn't trade for someone that is the same as what you have pretty much. If you could trade Adams and maybe one of the young pitchers for someone like Cabrera to play SS, then I'd do it.

I'd love to see Cabrera in a Cardinal uniform, but he'll get expensive to keep in 2015.
