QUOTE(#1):
It looks like under Emery the Bears are PROACTIVELY going forward instead of putting everything on autopilot and hoping to God a bunch of people overachieve so they can remain competitive - something they tended to do under Angelo. And that's a good point about Urlacher. If he took more money when he was playing better, then it's fair for him to get paid less when he's playing worse. If he goes on to play for the Vikings I think he'll be tarnishing his legacy here much like Favre did in the eyes of many Green Bay fans. At one time that guy would have run for governor of Wisconsin vs. JESUS and he probably would have won!
Urlacher is using the Viking's interest as a bargaining tool in negotiations with the Bears.

Then let him play for the Vikings...let us look at cost he would have to provide for his family.
He would have to buy a house, and then provide transportation for all the baby mamas to keep his visitation schedules of all of his kids...add that to the salary he makes...would the difference between that and what the Bears will pay him justify this move...I think not, if he had not been such an outspoken person on money issues while under contract demanding more money, I would say pay him, even overpay him for his loyalty to the franchise.
He also has to take into consideration that his legacy in Chicago would be damaged, which could cost his local endorsements for years to come.
He wants 5 Million per year or two years...give 3.5 Million per year for two years with incentives to get to 5 Million for making All-Pro, Defensive Player of the Year and Pro Bowl selections.
What goes around comes around...I stand with Emery, for the right price!
Who really wants a washed up, used out ,damaged goods, old LBKR?
Urlacher had best just shut up and retire as a BEAR after this year.[ifn they decide too keep him.]

I would not say he is washed up, but he will only fit into a 4-3 defense as the MLB and he would still lead the Bears in tackles if he played next season...what I am saying, is I have no sympathy for him on the money issues, due to his conduct in the past.
Today the Bears announced that they could not come to a contract agreement with Brian Urlacher and that he will not be back with the Bears next season.

The Vikings will sign him. They are good at signing their competitor's washed up stars.

As of right now, their are no teams that run a 4-3 defense, who have a starting MLB available...
He may have to retire.
QUOTE(#3):
And that it may backfire on him.If Emery is leaning against re-signing him due to performance/price concerns, then having his price increased by the Vikings will just make it more likely that the Bears will be able to justify walking away for salary cap reasons.Urlacher may end up making the decision even easier for Emery. That ringing in Urlacher's ears? It's not from Pat McCaskey singing his praises this time.
What up Zeke...
They fact that did not sign him was a statement to me...I think that they must draft a LB in the first round...they are not going to be able to trade down for more picks as they planned...either of the Georgia LB's would be nice, if they are on the board.

McClellin? just saying last year when they drafted him we all thought he should be a line backer and Lovie & Co. insisted he was a defensive end. If not Emery has put his back against the wall draft wise especially considering Roach signed with Oakland the available MLB free agents and limited cap cash.
Urlacher says it was a slap in the face, the offer the Bears made...contrary to rumor, they do not owe him anything...as I have stated in earlier posts, if he had not demanded more money in the past when he was under contract, he might have a gripe...GOOD LUCK

If the Bears do not move McClellin to LB now, in a moment of need...they are just as lost as Jerry Angelo ever was!!!

They can draft somebody for this position. There is no need to panic at this time.

Manti Te'o might be available to the Bears in the first round. If he's still on the board, Emery would be smart to take him regardless of all the off-season drama.

McClellin to light in the ass to be an effective DE...but he makes a huge LB...

Or maybe go with a big nose tackle in the draft and switch to a 3-4?............I know it's been said they wouldn't but that was before both Roach and Urlachers departures. Just throwing it out there as Emery has proven to do the unexpected and remains tight lipped on team affairs citing it gives the opposition Intel on what their plans are going into the draft.
