NFL  > General NFL  > Flynn to Raiders/Palmer to the Cards: Thoughts?
April 1, 2013, 03:41 PM
My first thoughts would be:

Raiders (at best) won't know what they have until at least the 3rd or 4th week of the season. My memory tells me Matt only played 1 full season at LSU, (could be wrong about that) and he took over because the other QB (Ryan Perrilloux) was suspended and JaMarcus Drank graduated into the waiting arms of Al Davis to further his codine addiction.

NOTICE to all relatives and friends of Cardinal fans:

Hide all knives and sharp objects, guns and suicide pills. You need to protect your friends, maybe suggest they find another team to cheer for.

wishing dallas had taken a chance on flynn with a short term deal rather than give romo the keys to the palace for the next 6 yrs.

Happy with the compensation it took to get him. We shall see how it pans out.

Imagine Russell Wilson stuck in the pocket, and your image will be of a QB that gets you 4 or 5 wins.

I see the same thing in Romo, let the guy scramble and play what the D gives you. You look back at the times when Romo was unstoppable and it always comes back to when his back is against the wall and he was scrambling to make a play.
Why not have him play that way for 4 quarters?
Could it be management just can't get their heads out of the sand to see reality? That would be my guess.

Looks like these teams are not sold on Smith, Barkley, and the 2013 crop of QB's. Should make my mock draft a little easier now that these teams will not be picking QB round one.

Fitzgerald should be much happier. His #'s will definitely improve greatly.

Arizona won't get any more out of Palmer than they got out of Kolb.

Romo is still under contract, and they would have taken a big hit on the salary cap, if they would have dumped him...they are just stuck with him, for the next 4 seasons.

Prior to the ridiculous expensive extension they just gave Romo, his contract was such that had he not been re-signed or extended he would have been a FA after the upcoming season, but JJ went all in big time with Romo.

numbers, yes.wins, no.

Would be nice to see him finish his career with a winner. That is not likely to happen in Glendale.

Yep, Romo was holding all the cards.

and the end result is they have a qb that will finish his career here (most likely) but that will never play up to the level of his contract.
