NFL  > General NFL  > Another player arrested for DWI
May 29, 2013, 12:58 PM
This time it's Joe Morgan of the Saints. Because if there's one thing the Saints need after bounty gate and the worst defense in the history of the league - it's more bad press. (He was found asleep at the wheel on the side of the road and blew a .21. Legal limit is .08)

But back on topic...

Why are there so many NFL players arrested for this?

Do you not make enough money to call a cab?

Are you not aware that you could kill someone? (and some players have).

I'm not understanding why players in the NFL keep doing this. Is it a 'man' thing? I'm a woman so is it about pride? Are you somehow less of a man if you can't 'handle your liquor' as they say?

It's just stupid guys doing stupid things. Most of these guys can afford to have a limo driver sit in front the bar for hours anyway. So if calling for a cab is not manly, go with the limo.

I doubt NFL players get DUI's at a higher rate than the rest of the population.
So this certainly isn't an NFL problem, it's a society problem.

They have to know that getting busted for a DWI is going to mean having their picture splattered on the front page and it may even carry a suspension without pay.

Why do it?

I believe in the old days this happened just as much, just society did not treat drunks like they do today, it was funny then.

Add-Police would be more likely to take celebrity ballplayers home instead of to jail.

Agreed ,But that was, a very long time ago.

Not too mention 'Celebrity Athletes' or Movie Stars, getting pinched all the time.

But ,that's the world we live in.

A person doesn't need to br impaired to receive a DWI. If you exceed the legal limit you'll get cited.

Absolutely.

It all changed in the 80s with MADD and other groups. Saw recently there's a push to lower the limit to .05. 1 quick one after work and there you are.

Back in those days you heard more about a teammate shoving the drunk into a taxi after a bar fight or something, which may be why there were not nearly as many traffic incidents as we are hearing about in the past few years.

And an officer bought that? "So let me get this straight.....someone else drove your car here to the side of the road, with you in the passanger side seat, then left you the keys in your pocket? Then what? He walked home? He had someone pick him up?"

I think I'd taze you just on prinicpal.

if you're gonna pull-over and pass-out = take your keys out of the ignition [first !].,......always sit in the passenger or back/seat if possible to sleep = this should keep you out of jail/DUI if the cop's all right,....or give you a better defense in court if you gotta [p]rick cop.,.....been there/done it.

Mother,

true ,ifn yer not driving? and can't make it too a rest area,2nd best option, just passing out in the back seat.

They can't get you with a DUI/DWI, of course any cop/s can be a/sholes and .mess with you with something else.

It's a job/test, that some peeps should never have passed, but did.
