NBA  > General NBA  > al asifyouknow suspended by Twitter for Tweeting

Here is a sumary of the suspension notice I got from Twitter:

"This account, @asifyouknow, was suspended for sending multiple unsolicited mentions to other users...........

The mention and @reply features are intended to make communication between people on Twitter easier, and posting messages to several users in an unsolicited or egregious manner......"

You will need to change your behavior to continue using Twitter. Repeat violations of the Twitter Rules may result in the permanent suspension of your account.

End quote.

While enjoying a good back and forth with fans in both sides of the Indiana vs Miami game Twitter decided to suspend my account.

That was the notice I got from Twitter, oh my God I'm scared, (lol) all that legal language, you'd think I killed somebody.

First of all twitter I don't know what -egregious- means and I don't have the intellectual curiosity to look it up, so you lost me there.

Twitter also told me "You will need to change your behavior..." wow I'm almost 60 years old, honestly my dear friends at twitter I have not heard that language from anyone since my childhood, you know when I was 12, those were the good old days when my mother would send me to bed without supper for behaving badly.

So please give me a break.

These two next quotes from Tweeter's suspension notice really kill me, they actually wanted me to confirm guilt:

"I confirm that I will discontinue abuse of the mention or reply feature, as well as any other behaviors that are prohibited by the Twitter Rules.

I understand that my account may be permanently suspended if I continue using Twitter in a way that violates the Twitter Rules. "

End quote.

Really, are you serious ? " I confirm that I will discontinue abuse ..."

What in God's name are you talking about?

What abuse are you talking about?

What or who did I abuse?

I don't curse, I don't make inappropriate references to race, sexual preference or use any language that could not be published in your church bulletin board.

Another quote: "Your account has been suspended. This account, @asifyouknow, was suspended for sending multiple unsolicited mentions to other users.

End quote.

First of all I posted with folks that appeared on my site, they appeared on my site! that is what I've always done, so where is the abuse?

Just in case you are curious, here are some of the posted comments that I feel got me suspended, probably because of complaints by childish over indulged South Florida Heat fans who can't take a good joke and of course they pushed the- report as spam button-

Honestly folks I don't take it personally from those Heat fans, they probably had a bad week, you know their Benz was in the repair shop all day and the gold Rolex is loosing a second a year. Rough life I guess.

Anyway here are the alleged abusive quotes:

"As predicted he is back to his Cleveland days...Choking in the final 5 minutes...lol..Oh the memories Clevelanders have!!!"

"LeBroom chokeAthon coming up folks....!!! lol"

"YES LeBron is back ! To his old "Cleveland days"...FOLDING LIKE A CHEAP SUIT !!!! lol...lol..."

I don't think those quotes are worthy of a suspension . Do you? I also don't understand why I can't contact folks who appear on my site, is not like I'm searching for them, if they appear and if I got a cool quote I'll hit all of them.

I guess I'll have to live without Twitter. I did mark the guilty box on the site so I could get the site back and delete my account in the next few weeks.

As always this is a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said on Twitter.

It's good to be bad. Especially at a mature age.

The same thing has just happened to me today. I believe it's because i sent some tweets to folks who are strongly anti-gun control in the US in a conversation that Jason Alexander was having today after the shooting in the mall last evening. I suspect as you said, the folks I tweeted with my opinion that doesn't jive with their, and they just decided to shut me up! Honestly, as you said, "What happened to free speech." And I agree with you, I am not really guilty of anything, so why admit that I am to continue to use Twitter. Plus the wording of this suspension notice is so very ambitious and using the word egregious (which used to mean outstanding or very good) and now has a different meaning.
I have sent a message to Twitter on their Help page hoping to hear back from them by email.
Like you I'm in my late 60's, a retired nurse and have enjoyed Twitter for the past year and a half and don't feel I'm abusing Twitter at all. I think my opinion about gun control (being Canadian) was just not accepted by the radicals who believe in it.
I like Twitter and do not want to feel I'm being made to submit to other's opinions either. That is wrong also.
Maybe Twitter need to go after the folks who falsely report those users who they disagree with and then report. Maybe they need their account suspended.
I'm actually outraged at this dynamic and hope to be able to actually speak to someone at Twitter about this.
That's all. Hope you get to read this too.
