we should probably let go of mark siminoux mark brunell and jeremy shockey that would free up some salary cap space.we should get dawan landry and chris mcalister.it would be awesome to get albert hayneworths but that would be hard.GO SAINTS!
March 1, 2009  02:17 PM ET

Are you stupid? Why let go of shockey? He still hasn't had a full season with Drew and he hasn't went through a full training camp either, you can't call him a failure until he does this.

March 1, 2009  06:33 PM ET

yea i know its just that he dropped easy passes and we dont really need him since we have billy miller oh and im so sorry i dont have the same opinion as you my bad

March 2, 2009  02:00 AM ET

We should let KK, Simenou, Stecker, Gramatica, and bullocks go. Also restructure Mckinzie, J.David, C.Grant, W.Smith too.

We should try to lock up R.Bartell, G.Sansugburg, D.Sharper, Phillips, Cato June.

March 2, 2009  08:47 PM ET

I think Bobby McCray is much better than Charles Grant. So either restructure or cut Grant; he's way to much cap!

Restructure Shockey to long term, low cost deal.

Restrucure or cut: Mckinzie, Jason David, and Randal Gay. Along with Mark Simineaux, Robert Meachem, Billy Miller, our DT's, and other wide recievers.

I think trades would be good - just to see what we can get for maybe Robert Meachem and even Reggie Bush (depending on what we could get!)

Last, I think signing the young yet well experienced Cato June, along with Derrick Brooks, LT2, Darren Sharper, and maybe trading for a CB. like N. Vasher from the bears who seem not to want him. + We need to trade back in the draft. maybe to the lions and get a late 1st round pick at # 20 and also get a 3rd round pick since we dont have one. I think if we get Center Alex Mack or a LB like Brian Cushing, we could dominate. But, we have GOT to restructure or cut people FAST!

March 15, 2009  02:37 AM ET

Saints should cut ties with S Kaesviharn , CB Mike McKenzie, CB Jason David, LB Mark Simoneau , over rated TE Jeremy Shockey, and either LBs Shanle or Fujita, and either DEs Wil Smith or Charles Grant.. Check this bold move out, trade the number one pick for RB Ladanian Tomlinson. I have been praying for some youth: like LB Cato June , CB Dre Bly , LB Keith Burnett , SS Roy Williams and maybe WR Torry Holt ( Not young , but sure handed and Drew Brees would love throwing to him and Colston). I believe that the Saints are a few players away from building a solid Super Bowl contender. LB and S, and RB are the only missing pieces ...

March 16, 2009  01:21 PM ET

I can't believe some of the idiot comments on here...TRADE COLSTON??? This is what happens when people who have no clue about football and how to play the game get access to blogs!!! Our problem was not OFFENSE...we are bringing back our entire unit minus Deuce...sad but neccessary...plug in a bruising Fullback that can get us 3yards when needed and can block...problem solved..(i.e. Heath from the Patriots)...

The real trades and movement needs to happen first on the defensive front...WE NEED A NOSE TACKLE...I mean a pure old fashioned "0"/"2" gap technique nosetackle that can pull a double team...he doesn't have to be elite...just enormous and strong...that's all Haynesworth was...our weakness at passrushing was that teams focused on our bookends as we had no effective middle rush...we should be able to get to the QB with 4 to 5 men...this will help out our secondary better than any free agent pick up or draft pick...

March 16, 2009  08:49 PM ET

nobody said get rid of colston

March 17, 2009  10:02 PM ET

yes they did...bigsaintsfan...check our boy ziggygun at comment #9...nothing personal ziggy...just strongly disagree with you...don't touch the offense

March 18, 2009  10:29 AM ET

The only thing I said about offense was see what we can get for Robert Meachem(who barley sees time and now that we re-signed Henderson-that will continue) and then see what we can get for Reggie Bush, which I know sounds stupid but if we could get another 1st rounder + more for him, I think that's best. That's because after that, we COULD have 2 1st round picks= maybe Brian Cushing and Beanie Wells or if we sign Derrik Brooks and a saftey - maybe Alex Mack and something else special.

Our O-Line is OK... Not great. We have an excellent QB who makes everyone around him look above average. And in case you think I stupid for saying that, try to remember Aaron Brooks - as much as that hurts.

Deffence wins championships and if you don't beieve me, the only team that didn't have a top 6 deffence that won the Super Bowl was the Colts with Peyton Manning. And Peyton Manning had an above average line, a top 5 TE in Clark, and 2 of the best recievers in the NFL. That kind of sounds like Arizona with Fitzgerald and Boldin... WHO ALMOST WON THE SUPER BOWL!!

So even though I didn't say TOO much about the offense, it helps to make some positive changes, rephined1906.

By the way, I never said get rid of Colston. And I satand by my other decisions or trade our #14 pick to get more 1st day picks.

Thanks ladies and gents!

March 18, 2009  10:33 AM ET

Now I see what your sayying rephined.

I said "Restrucure or cut: Mckinzie, Jason David, and Randal Gay. Along with Mark Simineaux, Robert Meachem, Billy Miller, our DT's, and other wide recievers", in my 3rd little paragraph.

Though I didn't mean cut all WR's, I'm sorry I was not specific enough for you.

March 18, 2009  10:41 AM ET

And now that I just read your first comment after mine. I see that you called me an idiot cause I said "cut Colston", which I obviously didn't. Perhaps if you could read a tad bit better, or get your eyes checked you would notice that just like everyone else on here - we are here to post our opinions and not to call people idiots. But since you're illiterate, I should make fun of you either, eh?

And to answer you for your concern towards the DT position, we drafted two last year in the draft. They being: Sedric Ellis and Demarrio Presley. Presley is a big guy but you wouldn't know cause he was injured this past season and along with your illiteracy, you might be a little forgetful. So, any more concerns can be answered as soon as I get back to y'all.

Thanks!

March 18, 2009  09:28 PM ET

ok...ziggy...I think I saw Meachem and read Colston...my apologies...and I will admit I was harsh and you are entitled to your opinion (as wrong as it may be)...so fair enough...but if you're going to challenge someone's functional literacy...spell correctly yourself...and Demarrio Presley was WAY overhyped!!! We saw that in preseason...but that's ok...again you were right...(my comment was juiced with alacrity) as well as bigsaintsfan...So to show respect...I'll take your angle...if we WERE to get rid of someone expendable...then perhaps Mr. Henderson could go...but the offseason isn't over so maybe we can get a 3rd rounder for him...I know he was a deep threat and was top in the league in avg. yards per catch...but Meacham could replace him easily (and would be more consistent..he was better at getting the ball at it's apex)...that being said...I stick with my stance on defensive front improvement...

March 18, 2009  09:47 PM ET

As a former DB I can tell you the key to being successful is predicting the route and timing of delivery which are 90% impacted by the pass rush...it seems like we were so horrible at the secondary level...but actually you will notice that we were very successful when we got pressure...it just so happens that we were horribly inconsistent in that area...more often than neccessary we had to sacrifice coverage for pressure...when this happens...wide recievers (especially at this level) will make you suffer for it...as will QB's (just see the Bear's game, and especially the Viking's game).

March 18, 2009  10:07 PM ET

That's better...

Thanks
