NFL  > Atlanta Falcons  > Here is some BAD news
February 20, 2009, 02:04 PM
Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff indicated Friday that his team will not be a major contender for free agent Albert Haynesworth.

"We're stepping back and being cautious," the GM said. "Our aim is not to be a major player in free agency, but to continue to focus on (the draft)."

It also says that the Bucs are showing big interest in Haynesworth, and at the moment are probably the favorites to sign him.

Bad news? We have a strong DL as it is. Chauncy Davis is great at backup and Jonathan is solid. Break out year coming up for Anderson.

Thank God he's not coming to Atlanta!!!!!!!!!!! $100,000.000 for that THUG. I hope Washington gets exactly "nothing" of what they're paying for.

First off Haynesworth is not a thug. Your former starting QB Vick is a thug.

Second, its $100,000,000.00 not $100,000.000. I guess they dont teach math in Atlanta.

Third, Haynesworth is a top 5 defensive player in the NFL so as long as he dont tear his knee the deal works out fine. Its a 4 yr 48 mil deal when you breakdown the contract and actually look at the numbers instead of reading a title on a website. Hes due 29 mil in the 5th year of the deal and he wont see it. We either redo the deal or he wont be a Redskin after year 4.

$100,000.000 dollars for a DT i dont think that was bad news for your team, and we dont even know what albert will show up the redskins d-line is weak since the departure of jason taylor.

everyone has fallen in love with haynesworth am i the only one who remembers him stomping on the head of a dallas cowboy linemen

Clearly, his decimal placement was in error. Don't be a wiseass.

Well I did it mainly because he called Haynesworth a thug. I dont think he knows what a thug is.

Yeah he should of been banned for life. Bottom line he wasnt, served his suspenison, and has become a great NFL player the last 2 years.

March 8, 2009  07:14 PM ET

4 years and $48 million for a defensive tackle who never put forth any effort whatsoever except for when he was in a contract year. What a steal!

March 15, 2009  02:06 PM ET

Just like they don't teach math in atlanta, they don't teach good general managing in Washington. Unless you like players that can't finish a full season and only show up in contract years. The only thing they do teach, in fact, is how to have unrealistic expectations of your squad.

Have fun being on the outside looking at the playoffs! We'll send you a postcard.
