February 20, 2009, 03:16 PM
Guy 1: "Which current player will be the next shortstop that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame?"
Guy 2: "Oh, good question. But I have the answer. Derek Jeter, what a career."
Guy 1: "Nope."
Guy 2: "Oh I think Jeter is a lock. The guy is an All-Star, look at his long impressive career, he'll get 3,000 hits. He's a lock."
Guy 1: "You're probably right, but he won't be the next current player to get into the Hall of Fame. That's Omar Vizquel."
Guy 2: "What?!? What are you smoking?"

Laugh if you want boys and girls, but Omar Vizquel is knocking on the door of the Hall of Fame.

With three all-star appearance, 11 gold gloves, and widely considered the best defensive shortstop of his era, and maybe the second best of all-time behind Ozzie Smith, Vizquel looks to be entering the Hall of Fame.

At age 41 with 2,657 hits, Vizquel only needs to play three more seasons to reach the magic 3,000 hit mark!

Say hello to Omar Vizquel, Hall of Famer!
