MLB  > New York Mets  > Josh Satin or Ike Davis?
July 8, 2013, 03:27 PM
Six weeks ago the question ragarding 1B was: Should Ike Davis be sent down to the minors? After a few at bats in Las Vegas and showing that he is better than just a AAA batter, Ike Davis is back up in the bigs.

With Josh Satin hitting really well as of late, Collins has a new dilemma. Albeit a better one than early in the season.

Should he play Satin or Davis at 1B?

Satin is 28 yrs old and has under 100 career at bats in the majors. Davis is 26 years old, has a couple of good years under his belt and has proven he can hit for power and can be very productive in the big leagues. Clearly, the Mets should reserve 1B for Davis but in the meantime Collins should platoon the two since Satin is on a hot streak. Platooning should also relieve Davis of the pressure to live up to the expectation as the next 30HR/100RBI home grown player.
