NBA  > New York Knicks  > MELO to sign with the LAKERS?

According to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, there is a "50%" chance that Melo will opt out of the final year (2014-2015) on his contract with the Knicks.

The final year of Melo's contract is worth 24M. According to Smith of ESPN, Melo would like to team up with Kobe Bryant and would be seeking a contract in the region of 4yrs/100M.

If Melo does opt out, then it's probably better for the Knicks to have the final year of the contract removed from payroll. Unless of course the Knicks do something spectacular this coming season, like win the championship.

I'm ok with that. If Melo can't bring the Knicks past the 2nd round in his prime, what can he do once he's 30?
