i choose reggie only cause of his catching skills but pierre thomas is better at running

Pierre Thomas is more of a complete back. I pick Thomas. I think Bush had a great rookie season, but he has to show me something this year for me to believe that it was his ability and not the players around him that made Reggie great.

to me it's really not a pick at all. reggie is not a running back. he doesn't have the downhill running ability that pierre has inside the tackles, and he's not durable. he's gone down the last two years to injuries. pierre on the other hand can run between the tackles and has the mental toughness that is takes when things are not going well. reggie may be best outside of the tackles, therefore, the saints should look at classifying him as a tweener, but mainly using him in a wing formation which would/should give him that outside edge that both he and the saints are looking for.

I have bee a Saint Fan all there life from the start, watch them when they played at Tulane. I like both Thomas and Bush. If I had to pick one it would be Bush. I think Bush can brake one almost anytime, if he has a little day light. if he is in the open field he has even a better chance for a long run. he has better hands then Thomas. bush will most likle never run over anyone in the NFL, Thomas could run over players, not the big line men, most of the CB, S, SF and small LB. I think if they used both on the field at the same time like they did with Duce, Bush would have a better game, I think Bush needs someone on the field like Duce or Thomas. With Bush in the back field by himself he almost never has a chance. Bush has better hands then Thomas. Bush could break one almost anytime he touches the ball, maybe they could use him running back kick off and punts, bush in the open field is better then Thomas. thomas up the middle is better the Bush.

Both can get the job done, but I'd pick Thomas because of his durability and strength.

March 6, 2009  03:14 AM ET

It's a tough question, but mainly because, if you ask me, they play two different positions. Thomas is a RB. Bush is a Wes Welker slot guy who can get 500 yards rushing also. If I was building a team I'd take Bush. Not because I think he's a better "RB", but because his playstyle is harder to find in the NFL than a style like Thomas. Bush causes huge missmatch problems for defenses because of everything he can do. I'd rather take that, and THEN find a RB like Thomas to do what Bush doesn't do well...and you can find a back like that every year in the draft. A player like Bush, however, doesn't come along too often. A player who causes the opposing team to think too much, to overplan, to overscheme. Bush is a wonderful distraction.

Pierre the better running back, Reggie the better all-around player. Reggie can catch and has great return skills taht Thomas doenst have. Thats why he is better.

March 8, 2009  03:31 AM ET

Pierre is a better back than Bush cause he can run in between the tackles,Bush like to go for the big play to much.If he learn to just get five to six yard a run he will be a better back, and than he will get the big runs he wants.

March 10, 2009  05:03 PM ET

If Reggie is healthy, he is as dynamic a back as there is in the NFL. He was leading the league in touchdowns before he got hurt. When used in conjunction with a bigger back, and moved around into diffrent positions, he takes a lot of attention from the defense. In a couple of years he will be a top 5 back in the league.

Hands down it's Reggie.FYI, Reggie has run between the tackles (beginning of 2008 season). If he stops listening to fans and just do what got him here in the first place (Love the game not the fame)he will be just fine. Here's a question..... Would you rather game plan against him or cheer for him.

Doesnt matta who ya'll pick , Pierre is starting this year baby! Geaux Saints!
i met Pierre , he has alot upper body strenght , yeah push the pile

March 15, 2009  01:51 AM ET

dont get me wrong , Reggie Bush is one hell of a player that will not give up , but just let him consentrate on returning those kicks, also Pierre goes head up like a man, Reggie needs to try it , doesnt matter about size , only heart and desire

March 15, 2009  01:53 AM ET

Perfect example , Jacob Hester goes head up with defenders

Saints should be running an Offensive scheme using both Thomas and Bush in the Back-Field for nearly every play. This would win a Super Bowl.

Apples and oranges. Each has his strong/weak points. Its up to the coaches to put them in a situation that best takes advantage of their unique skills. I feel that Coach Payton tries to get a little too exotic with plays involving Bush which reflects badly on Reggie. Just put him in motion, either out of the backfield or the slot, and challenge the defense to cover him. Either they slide to his side and open up Colston or they watch his back going into the end zone. Name me another "running back" that can do what he does.

April 11, 2009  11:57 PM ET

Pierre Thomas by a long shot. Since he has been here he has put 100% in and it shows. Reggie Bush is just good catching short passes and trying to turn something out of them. Pierre Thomas can do that too, maybe without all of the pizzazz of a Reggie Bush but he gets the job done.

I LOVE THE SAINTS. I ALWAYS WILL, BUT THE PEOPLE OF NEW ORLEANS THINK THAT REGGIE BUSH IS THE SECOND COMING AND HE IS NOT. THEY THINK BACK WHEN HE WAS AT USC. HE HE NOT THAT PLAYER. NOT AT THE NFL LEVEL AT LEAST.

I truly think that the reason he is still with the Saints is that he sells tickets, thats all.

If the Saints do get Beanie Wells instead of a cornerback which they desperately need and he does well you can say goodbye to Reggie Bush.

Personally I would trade him and get some draft choices out of him for 2011. The Saints do not have the money this year to do it.

April 21, 2009  04:11 PM ET

Pierre Thomas all the way.

April 25, 2009  01:00 PM ET

Reggie Bush Period.

April 25, 2009  10:44 PM ET

LOL Every play?? Don't you think other teams won't figure this out and adjust to it by the 2nd series of the game?? We need ot add one more back and use thomas as the feature back and reggie on special teams and out of the slot and reciever........
