NBA  > General NBA  > Greivis Vasquez: Sacramento fans already looking for a trade
July 16, 2013, 10:35 PM
This is so similar to what happened with fans in New Orleans that I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming or going through some kind of portal to the past.

Last year in New Orleans there was a swell of fans wanting to start Duke's guard Austin Rivers' he was supposed to be their next Paul (they got Paul separation anxiety in New Orleans) Rivers was crowned by Pelicans/Hornets fans as the next big thing .

I felt bad for Vasquez, he had to listen to all that silliness. I don't care how hard skin you are all those comments had to bother him.

Of course we all know what happened, Vasquez had a great year and Rivers was a disaster and probably will end up in Europe for a few years.

Now I see some Kings fans and bloggers already talking about how great the Detroit Mercy guard Ray McCallum is doing and how that performance could facilitate trading Vasquez BY MID SEASON, are this folks serious.

Vasquez hasn't even put an uniform on and he is already being shipped out. I hope the silliness of fans and bloggers takes a rest, at least until Mid season.

Greivis Vasquez is a point guard folks, an NBA point guard who as a rookie was a back up in an NBA playoff team, not a bench guy but a significant contributor to the playoff run.

Ray McCallum may become Kobe in a few years, but today he is a kid averaging 17 points a game on a summer league team. Oh and by the way Rivers averaged about ten of eleven points last year in the SUMMER LEAGUE. So please give me a break.

For Gods sake give Vasquez a chance to at least break a sweat.

Enough said.
