By trading Rios and a few other expensive spare parts the Sox can start a rebuild almost immediately. They have a solid core of pitchers to build around in Sale, Santiago, Quintana, Reed and Jones. In the field they have Beckham, Viciedo and....and... By trading Rios I think they could acquire at the very least a solid prospect that is near MLB ready. Hopefully a catcher. Flowers is not the answer and neither is Phegley. I think realistically they could squeeze one more year out of Konerko, and they won't get much for him in a trade. Dunn is Dunn and will never be a .300 hitter. As a DH he's not too expensive and he produces where you need. They have some young prospects in the OF that are near MLB ready and if they move up in a September call up this year, they may be able to contribute on a full time basis by 2015 when they core of this team will still only average about 26 years old. Hopefully they can make the right moves. Go Sox!
