NFL  > St. Louis Rams  > Ok, I'm bored. What you gonna do Steve?

I keep waiting for SOMETHING out of the new head shed. Franchise tag, full backing of Bulger, silent on Pace/Holt, wants to keep Bartlet....

Ok, so how about something NEW.....

I'd like to hear something new from Spag too. But this poor guy's got half a team to replace just to get to mediocre. He's no dummy either. I think he'll eventually go through the current roster with a buzz saw. He' stuck with Bulger, but a lot of old heroes and long-standing duds are likely to be replaced by rookies and free agents. I'm talking guys like Chavous (already gone), Holt, Pace, Little, Bennett, Klop, Brown, D Hall, J Hall, Hill, Greene, Berlin, Glover, Pisa, Leckey, Pittman, Leonard, and maybe Barron and Incognito. A new team of youngsters, castoffs and also-rans couldn't do much worse than 2-14.

Ah yes, the "old heros and long-standing duds".....you mean like Kurt Warner? (just kidding).

You gotta wonder how Pace and Holt would really do if the team were on a tear towards the playoffs. Could also be said on probably 50% of those on you list (I wish I could list them like that but I keep remembering Snow, Gabriel, Dickerson, Ellard, Flipper....and a lot of the '99 team, but alas.....the old head shed blew a golden opportunity at a dynasty).

In know Spag has a real job ahead of him and yes, he needs, as you so eloquently put it, a chain saw....I gues I'm just chomping at the bit to see some inkling of what this team is gonna do.

Plus I need some time to be sure I can get the early bird special for the Directv package IF they make some motivating moves....

Nice signing of Brown/C. I'd like to see a OT/free agent signing to help shore up the line because either Pace or Barron won't last the whole season. Make one more splash in with a FA LB, either Lewis/Ravens or some other bad-ass that can give this D an identity. Then use that #2 pick for Crabtree.

I think Slyvester Crun was the best hire someone to light a fire under steven Jackson's a** which is what he needs someone to knock that whatever mood out of Bulgar and turn him into a leader save Pace with him and Brown and Bell even Richie and Barron not a bad O-line.

The Rams have a knack for getting rid of Super Bowl QB's like Vince Ferragamo and Kurt Warner while they were still young and talented. They also let talent like Dre Bly, Brandon Chillar and Madison Hedgecock get away. Holt has grumbled for awhile that he's ready to move on to Carolina. I say let him. Pace has been great, but age and injuries (some due to his infamous holdouts) have rendered him subpar. Let Orlando go to. That will free up millions of $$$ in cap room to allow the Rams to get new young blood through free agency or the draft. With Holt gone they can take Mike Crabtree with the 2nd pick and field a stellar set of speedy receivers including Avery and Burton. The Rams can then trade for, or draft, an OT, MLB, and more defensive help. With Atogwe and Bartell secured and Jason Brown taking over at Center. Things are already on the right track. Plus Greene, Bennett and Chavous are already gone likely to be followed soon by; Holt, Pace, Pisa, Fakhir, Tye Hill, Dante Hall, Klop, Leckey, Setterstrom, Pittman, Glover, James Hall, et. al. And, the list of departures from the Linehan team holdovers could grow more. I'm kinda surprised Leonard Little was retained. He's too old to play every down anymore. Plus Little, Carriker and Long didn't scare any opposing QB's last year. Carriker has had two lackluster seasons and Long is just too small at 260 lbs to take on 330 lb O-Linemen. I hope Chris can transition to LB. My guess is that it will take awhile to rebuild, but we could win 6-8 games in 2009.
