I dont see how Jackson can be much of a disappointment. I mean he threw 9 td's and 2 int's last year and everybody wants to replace him. Sure he had a bad game against the eagles last year but so did the eli manning. Jackson even had a better game than eli.

Looks like the Vikes are going to end up with Sage Rosenfels from the Texans.

How much of a upgrade is Rosenfels from Jackson??? I dont understand the viking personell sometimes. Rosensfels had less touchdown passes and more interceptions with a worse qb rating than jackson. jackson's started in the playoffs rosenfels hasnt. Jackson's younger while rosenfels is in his 8th season, he has no upside. Jackson can use his legs alot better. What kind of competition is 9-2 and 6-10??? Jackson will be starting this year

I'm a Texans fan and I'll tell you this, Sage looks like a franchise QB, sometimes. Other times he has mental lapses where he can't hit a receiver or make a decent decision to save his life. He lost the first game against the Colts last year by himself. Not many players can lose a game by themselves, but Sage did. But, there are times when he plays like one of the top signal callers in the league. The Texans fans have, on more than one occasion, called for Sage to start in front of Schaub. With good offensive line protection and the benefit of your running game, Sage could finally live up to his potential.

Stupid considering they more than likely could have gotten Bomar with the 4th round pick. I think he will pan out nicely somewhere.

Hopefully the Vikings get their qb situation handled. Hope for the team's sake they get someone other than Michael Vick. He is to self centered (and a felon to boot) to be good for any team.

As long as Brad Childress is head coach he will do everything in his power to help Tarvaris Jackson succeed. He is too stubborn to admit that selecting Jackson as his franchise QB was a mistake. Childress stated that whomever the Vikings bring in at quarterback this offseason will "compete" to win the starting job. Sage Rosenfels is not a marquee name and fans will not dispute a decision to keep T-Jack as the starter if he preforms well in training camp. If the Vikings were to acquire a decent name such as Jeff Garcia or Derek Anderson coach Childress would have a hard time selling the public of "competition" at the quarterback position.

I have never been one to do a lot of complaining... but Viikes13 hit the nail on the head. Rosencopter is a horrible decision and the only explanation is exactly what Vikes13 said.

How in the hell can Vikings ownership rationalize NOT making an effort to pick up Matt Cassel from the Patriots??? Can someone tell me how Viking season ticket holders should be happy to see him go to KC for only a 2nd round draft pick, when the one position that warrants the most dire need of an upgrade is QB? i am just totally dumbfounded as to what the hell they are thinking. so much for renewing my tickets next year. another 7-9 or 6-10 season ahead with that no talent jackson throwing incomplete passes.

Now that its out in the open, The Vikes should do what it takes to get Jay Cutler!!, Can you imagine??? Id give them the 1st, T-Jack/ or Sage and next year's 2nd or 3rd. With that D, that O-Line, Peterson, and you add Cutler??? That would be unfair to the rest of the league...LOL,

minn should of got culter from the get go but the broncos did and if minn could but they wont i don't know sage and jackson it won't matter there both averge not anyone special and this year will be rely once again on peterson and thats alot of stress for the young guy so please at least minn sign birk don't mess with the o line

Almost all of the Vikings staff are complete fools. They completely overlooked even the thought of picking up Matt Cassel. He is a great quarterback. Sure he didn't take the Patriots to the playoffs. He was able to fill the position of Tom Brady. Now the Vikings are stupid enough to go the last resort and pick up a quarterback who was benched behind Schaub in Houston. He threw less TD's than interceptions. Jackson isn't completely horrible. He just chokes. He is like an Aaron Rodgers. He has little experience and just needs to learn when and where to pass the ball. That will come with experience. If nothing else, they should pick up Michael Vick before someone who doesn't need a quarterback does.

There are no solid Veterans left for this year, so bring a rookie and train him for a year, this is what I think (credit to yahoo sports):

His game should translate well to the pros, making him the latest MAC quarterback (Miami???s Ben Roethlisberger, Marshall???s Chad Pennington) to find success in the league.
