NFL  > Chicago Bears  > Season opener, Cincinatti Bengals. May the Games Begin!
September 4, 2013, 04:47 PM
So just how good are the Bears going to be? I don't want to say that the FIRST game of the season is a MUST game, but to me it decides just how good they are going to be. With a win it will set the tone for the entire season and I predict Da Bears will go 10-6 or BETTER this season.

With a loss I think the Bears will have a 9-7 or 8-8 record. This game is the litmus test in my eyes.

I think Marc Trestman is going to make his name and make the Bears IMMEDIATELY into a playoff team. He's not a young pup all infatuated with himself for being in this job. He wants to win NOW and prove to the entire NFL that he has been wrongly snubbed for years. This is what it's all about. The time is now. GO BEARS!!!

BF,

It should be a great game, as both of our OLs have questions too be answered, as both teams have either rooks or injured 1st team players out for the 1st game.

I think Kyle Long will be a great G or T for you, after he get's his feet wet ,and both teams are tweaking the front line too see what or who. works out best.

And ,I want too see yer new HC [and posse] and how he does as well.

Not too mention both DLs vs the Oline men. Cincy's main problem is it's secondary, and want too see ifn Cutler can take advantage of that weakness.

I worry about Devon Hester on returns, because he deserves a lot of respect on STeams.

Out of both Defensive lines? I have too give Cincy the nod on that one. But the Bears have J.Peppers and Co, And ifn they can flush Andy out of the pocket enough? He'll fumble or throw a pick or 2 as well.

As far as Targets for both QBs too throw too?

I have too go with Cincy once more, as they've added [RB]Gio Benard and [TE]Tyler Eifert.

Plus AJ Green and M. Sanu. as the 2 best recievers with the team, and we also got yer former WR Dane Sanzenbacher [WR-SR] from you peeps. He made the Team!!

So it's going too be a great game too watch. Best of luck too all Bears Fans. And seeya on Sunday.

I think the Bears hold the advantage on defense and special teams. Especially when you consider our CB's and Safeties.

Specials, well how huge will it be if we can start at the 40 yard line most of the time? Much less if Devon can break one! If that happens it could be a blowout! It will terrify the Bengals into making mistakes. Even though I expect that to be a weapon later in the season, I don't expect that to happen against such a good and well coached team.

On offense, I'm ecstatic, we finally have a coach who will call plays to help our team. Meaning he will call plays that will HELP the team be successful. Setting up the defenses. Not just saying, this is what we are doing and that's it! It really will be a HUGE change and something that could make this team a Champion!

All together I say Chicago 31 Cincinnati 24. With the Bears coming from BEHIND in the last 2 minutes to pull the game out! GO BEARS!!!

BF,

Thats very possible, but the same could be said about Cincy, With both teams, who makes the least mistakes will take the game.

Other than the secondary, I have too go with Cincy's front 7.

It's about Which QB gets the most pressure on him, and how they react, will be the main factor on Sunday.

Best of luck with yer Bears.

Then I would think Dalton has the edge.

TH,

At the moment,I'm not sold on Dalton,But Cutler is an' interception machine',And,Ifn Cincy's D can give Jay the 'bums rush'? it's going too be a long afternoon for him.

But,the same could be said for Dalton as both Olines have either rooks or replacements for hurt Vets this Sunday.

That LT Collins taking on Julius Peppers is gonna be a terrible matchup.

Any way you look at it it's going to be a fun game. I honestly am shocked at how similar both of the teams personnel are. There are two other advantages I give to the Bears though.

First there aren't many Running Backs in the NFL that are better than Matt Forte. Add in Michael Bush and I definitely say advantage Bears.

The other advantage is that no one really knows what a Marc Trestman offense is like because he's been coaching with 12 players on the field not 11. So trying to predict what he is going to do would be very difficult.

At the same time Marvin Lewis and his Bengals have had the same offense for awhile. This gives a huge advantage to them because they have practiced it so much.

The O-line/D-line match-ups are going to probably decide the game along with the turnovers as you said.

But I keep coming back in my mind of the unpredictability factor. Not knowing what a team is going to do is a huge advantage and add in that the Bears have veteran coaches everywhere is something MOST first year coaches do NOT have. I just don't know, but I can't wait for the game to start. GO BEARS!!!

BF,

Both are, as of yet,Undeafeted.

Both our OLinemen are either rooks/and/or are replacements for some vets, still healing.

And i didn't post about yer potent running game, with Forte and Bush.[my bad].

not too mentiom Marshall [WR].

And Trestman, bring's in inovation, As Marvin is kinda the same year by year.[He may be a great choice of talent, but doesn't have what it taks too break away and go too the next level]
11 years is good enough, too know ,He ain't the HC too make a definate challenge for the Super Bowl.

But? as far as the Running game? Cincy's gonna surprise you on that.[Gio.]

Not too mention Gresham and Eifert in a double TE play.

As far as the Oline? Both teams are on the same boat.

So yer unpredicabictality.rests with yer new HC.

BF,

The Bears are a 3 point favorite, against Cincy. That seems fair enough.

And it's gonna be a good game too watch.

It will set the tone for both teams. How they do this year will they be good or better I think makes this a very, important game for both.

I look at Marvin Lewis like Lovie and Mary Schotttenheimer. They are good steady coaches who just are a B in grade. NOT A's. And the Bears will find out this season if Trestman is an A or what. So far he's an A in my book. I love the way he practices and emphasizes no penalties in practice. Train hard and the war is easy. That's the US Army way and I think it's the same way in the NFL only it's games not wars.

I really want to see how the Bears play over all. Can Devin give us the best starting field position the NFL has ever seen? Can the Defense stop enough offenses so that our Offense can win the game?

Can the offense really use their strengths and keep it so their weaknesses don't matter? By playcalling etc? I really think we have the pieces it's now time for the Bears to prove it. GO BEARS!!!

September 6, 2013  10:37 PM ET

Trestman is new and Marvin is vanilla, pick yer poison.

Ifigure both teams would benefit for a win,or learn something and adjust for a loss.

This should be a good game but I believe Dalton is a better decision maker than Cutler and won't hurt his team by forcing a pass into coverage. The Bengals are a team on the rise while the Bears are a question mark.

GnG,

I don't really see it that way, As Both QBs have made the same mistakes ,and they are a 3 point favorite ,at the whistle.

But? I think Cincy's front 7 is better than Chicago's.
