NFL  > Cincinnati Bengals  > Dalton

I am still not convinced Dalton can lead us to the promised land. Too inconsistent with his throws. Bengals will only go as far as Dalton Takes us. If we don't go to the AFC championship game, probably against Denver, then I would be looking for a QB in the Draft.

He was just awful Sunday.

Unless he regresses significantly from where he's at now, I doubt Cincy will be looking to replace him. He's increased his completion percentage, yds/gm average, and QBR each year, and improved the team's win-loss record progressively, too. He gets sacked too often which can be an O line issue or a mobility issue, or both. I agree he's inconsistent, but be careful what you wish for. He's a winner so far and the Bengals can do one heck of a lot worse by drafting one of the many college QBs who never pan out.

What's up with Pac Man getting cited for disorderly conduct while a passenger in a car? Jeez, just when things seemed to be simmering down for that guy he has to lip off to a cop when he wasn't even the target of the stop. Goodell made a kind of a "three strikes' warning after his last incident - wonder how he'll handle this.

September 24, 2013  03:32 PM ET

I'm concerned about him also. As far as the young QBs in the league go, I put Dalton in the same boat as Ryan Tannehill and Josh Freeman, the only difference is that Dalton has more weapons.

September 24, 2013  03:33 PM ET

Ripper,

Pacman was not driving the car, when the cops pulled thwm over,it was his wife[celebrating his Birthday and the Packers win.]

So,as the cops were doing the[put yer finger on yer nose, and stand on 1 leg'routine].

And probably his Wife was going too be arrested.[And i'm sure any Husband would defend thier wife guilty or not]

An exchange of words esculate and ,they bust Pacman as well.

So it wasn't a big deal.

September 24, 2013  03:40 PM ET

I've been suspect about Dalton since he was drafted.[in the 2nd round]

And he has been improving, but he's still making the same mistakes since he was a rookie.

His fear of the pocket and his crappy accuracy with the long ball.

And ifn the D hadn't bailed him out? GB would have won.

Now they play the Browns, and by no means should they overlook them,or they will be 2-2 with the Pats coming too town the next week.

I watched Dalton play a lot in college and have seen some of his pro games and he is way ahead of those other two, especially Freeman who will be looking for a new job after the season is over.

TH,

One of the reasons they picked Dalton, was because of his 'quick realese',But after saying that?

It has too be accurate as well.

At the moment? He's better off with the short passing game, but at the same time? He's got one of the best recievers in the NFL with AJ Green. I just hope Dalton can connect better with his long ball as AJ can just about catch anything ifn it's at least close enough for him too catch.

When Brady was first starting out, his biggest criticism was his long passes. He turned out pretty well. If Dalton keeps working at it, he'll get better too. He's a smart kid.

Dalton had a high QB rating against Green Bay.

I wouldn't give up on him quite yet, EZ... it's only his third year.

Patience...

TH,

I could only wish! But,as long as he doesn't throw picks and doesn't fumble the ball?

That's the best i can hope for. As the D is pretty good also.

September 24, 2013  04:35 PM ET

FW,

I think Cincy has a winning record with GB over the years.

September 24, 2013  04:39 PM ET

OBD,

Looks like yer Cowboys have been improving as well.

Got a good shot of making the playoffs as well.[the Skins/NYG] aren't doing very well so far.

I said weeks ago, 7-9 could win that division.

YUP..He will be fine. Can't understand why someone on another thread wanted to lump him in with Josh Freeman. That 's plain flat-**** stupid.

I agree with you about Freeman. that guy has regressed a lot. Definitely not improving as you would expect. But the Bucs aren't helping much either - they need to address their TE situation which could help Freeman.

I think he's in a contract year, too, which is unfortunate for him. He was on the brink of commanding a decent contract worth what, $15 mil/yr or so? But that's if he performed well. If he continues along the current path he'll be signing for league minimum as a back-up somewhere. I see no way the sign a contract with him if he doesn't turn it around.

September 24, 2013  06:36 PM ET

"they"

September 24, 2013  07:28 PM ET

Dalton gets a lot of passes deflected at the LOS because he doesn't:
1.) Move his eyes
2.) Pump fake
3.) Manipulate the pocket/move feet

Dalton should study Drew Brees, Brees is the same height and Brees is a master of creating his own throwing lanes

That entire Tampa Bay team seems to be a train wreck this year, having a players only meeting before they even played a game.

I can't see the coach surviving this, too many players on the Buc's are not buying into Greg Schiano's plans. I think his NFL days are numbered.
