NFL  > General NFL  > cris collinsworth cheerleading for robert griffin

Why is it that collinsworth felt the need to cheer for a losing quarterback all night long. Everytime Griffin did something halfway decent collinsworth was jumping up and down with his pom poms. Over all for a quarterback Griffin had a poor night to go along with the rest of his poor season. It's getting old, all the announcers cheerleading for the read option qbs. When they are relatively unexciting. They rarely ever put up any major points

Most of the ESPN analysts hype him up too, it was going on all last season and now that RG3 is playing terrible it still doesn't matter. Some players are just loved by the media in general. I'll take my guy who doesn't do commercials and brings his lunch pail to every game and just wins and that is Andrew Luck who has a career record of 15-7 compared to RG3's 10-11 starting(Cousins was 1-0 as a starter last season)and RG3 has had a 1600 yard RB in Morris to even help him. Guys that have followed Football for decades like Skip Bayless for example actually think the Colts made a mistake by drafting Luck instead of RG3 and others have agreed with him. Luck is much better plain and simple and it's not even arguable.

Even statistically Luck has been better than RG3, career numbers:
RG3
4648 Yards Passing/26 TD's
964 Yards Rushing/7 TD's
5612 Total Yards/33 Total TD's
Luck
5518 Yards Passing/30 TD's
390 Yards Rushing/7 TD's
5908 Total Yards/37 TD's Total TD's
-What stands out here is Luck has the same amount of Rushing TD's that RG3 has with 7 and he is always pass first.

Collinsworth always picks a team/player to cheerlead for in every game he broadcasts. Are you just now noticing this???

That I'd disagree with.

But otherwise, yes, the RGIII hype is old; and as far as this season is concerned, undeserved.

Collinsworst was running his mouth about the Dallas D too!?? 433 yards allowed and he thinks they are doing a good job? Yeah sure some guys came off the bench but that doesn't make for good defensive numbers. Hold a team to less than 270 yards in a game? That's good work, 433--HELL NO!

Yeah, that dude's best years were definitely on the playing field as opposed to the announcer's booth. Funny that this thread was posted. I was thinking the same thing while listening to Collinsworth licking RG3 tail. One roll-out run down the sideline and "RG3 is back! I can see he has that extra step back. You can tell how he moves. He's back." Then he proceeds to stand in the pocket a few times making bad throws.

The media is in love with RG3. It is like that with some players. Tebow is another one that can do no wrong regarding the media. I would take Wilson and Kaep over RG3.

Too bad b/c would like to see him do well as Baylor Grad and Military Brat. Anyone see him and T. Williams get together after the game?

he lost so I could care less.

It was interesting to hear the announcers point out - during the Cowboys/Redskins game - that RGIII is a first-look passer.

Basically most of the plays are designed for RGIII to throw the ball to his first option without scanning the field. Which undermines his credibility as a decision maker.

He's not Warren Moon or Doug Williams who won a SB with the Skins. Those guys were pure pocket passers. A lot of RG's success relies on his legs/running which isn't a bad thing but one becomes more injury prone relying on that too much and RG isn't 100% right now so he is easier to defend.

Yes he did, RG3 looked scary early didn't he. He was running fast!

Uhhh I think only Bradford has NOT made that D look silly. Seems if one of your Fantasy QB is playing Dallas that is a week to be sure he's starting.
