NFL  > Oakland Raiders  > 2013 MIDSEASON DIVISIONAL EVALUATIONS
November 6, 2013, 12:42 PM
NFC EAST - This was expected to be a 4 way horse race and it is. Will a 8-8 record be all that is needed to win ? Dallas has the better divisional record so far at 3-0, one more divisional win could be all it takes to win the division in a tie breaker, but can they win 3 more games? Will Philadelphia play the spoiler for Dallas on 12/29 like Washington did last year ?

NFC NORTH- Green Bay, Detroit, Chicago are all 5-3 and 2-1 in their division. Detroit is the healthiest and they play @ Chicago this week, will the winner of this game go on and win the North? Will Rodgers absence eliminate Green Bay?

NFC SOUTH - The winner of the South will be decided in December when N.O. and Carolina play each other 2X in 3 weeks. Both are currently 2-0 in their division and both have the same difficulty in schedules.

NFC WEST - As expected the West would be a battle between the 49ers (6-2) and Seattle (7-1) . Both teams will get an infusion of new players in the final weeks. Seattle will get Percy Harvin. The 49ers will get Quinton Dial, Mario Manningham, Tank Carradine, Aldon Smith, Eric Wright, Michael Crabtree, Nick Moody. Arizona is still in the hunt for a Wild Card birth at (4-4), Arizona has beat Detroit and Carolina if there is a tie-breaker needed.

AFC EAST- New England is in command of this division despite having their team ravaged by free agency and other preseason problems. It is the Dolphins organization that is coming apart in the locker room. The Jets could give the Patriots a bit of a challenge and are still in the Wild Card hunt.

AFC NORTH - Cincinnati and Cleveland atop the North? Well we expected it form Cincinnati. If Cincinnati can win their next to games against Baltimore and Cleveland they will pretty much lockup the North going into their BYE WEEK.

AFC SOUTH - Indianapolis is in good position to win the South. Is Tennessee much of a threat? No. They will play 2 AFC division leaders Cincinnati and Kansas City both games are on the road. It will let them know what to expect in the playoffs.

AFC WEST - At the beginning of the season they were considered the worst division in the NFL and now they might be the best. We shall see. It will be a divisional shootout for sure with San Diego maybe playing the role of spoiler. Denver is nothing without Manning and Kansas City's strength is in their defense. Both K.C. and Denver will face each other 2X in 3 weeks. In that 3 week schedule Denver will play K.C., @ N.E., @ K.C.. Where as Kansas City will be @ Denver, San Diego, Denver.

The NFC East is the biggest mess and my thoughts are, if one is lucky enough to get to 8-8 they will win the division. Division games are never easy and the Cowboys have Washington and NY on the road, plus they are on the road at NO and CHI. The only easy game they have is Thanksgiving against Oakland. I'm not feeling 8 wins for this team.

I think Cincy, Indy, Pats win their divisions without too much problem. I think one of the more interesting divisions is NFC South, especially if Carolina can get a win in SF this week. The others will pretty much be a dog fight week to week.

I believe the division winners will be the Chiefs, Bengals, Colts and Patriots in the AFC

The NFC division winners will be the Seahawks, Lions, Saints and Cowboys.

AFC wild card teams - Broncos and Titans

NFC wild card teams - Niners and Panthers

Stop bein' such an NFC hater!!! Stop it!!! Right now!!

Panthers are intriguing and Cam is dangerous. I still see the Saints winning that but I think the Cowboys shock the Saints this week to even make it more interesting. I think Pats, Colts, Bengals, and Broncos win their divisions in the AFC. NFC I picked the Giants before the season to win the NFC East but I say the Cowboys at 9-7 will take it now, Saints, Seahawks, and Bears are your other division winners, - SF the best WCard team ever. I had Packers winning the NFC North but with the Rodgers injury not now as the Bears took advantage of it. I think the Bears beat the Lions this Sunday and take control of the NFC North.

In the Divisional games?

Watch out for the G-Men. As they are Game changers and spoilers.

And they aren't out of contention for the playoffs yet.

I hope that happens.

Yes indeed...............The G-Men should never be taken for granted as they have made the playoffs before when most people thought they were out of contention.

DT,

They may not win enough too get too the playoffs.

But they can ruin some other Teams playoffs hopes.

Any team that is only 2 games out of first place is theoretically in the hunt. The last time the Giants won the Super Bowl it was a similar situation where they were thought to be out of it in 2011, the fans were calling for Coughlin to be fired, and somehow they managed to win all 3 of their playoffs on the road.

It is not inconceivable that Washington, Philadelphia, and the NYG's could all win this week and Dallas could lose. That puts the NYG's one game behind and then you have a 4 horse race to the finish.
