NFL  > General NFL  > Feeling sort of "done" with the NFL network clowns......
November 24, 2013, 10:10 AM
The talking heads on NFL network are starting to wear on me. I'm not sure but after watching them for a few years I almost feel that they are now acting rather than reporting. The producers seem to give them "parts" to play and they no longer get to report on what is ACTUALLY happening.

Sapp and Irvin are just too over the top. Constant laughing, joking, and inside jokes. Irvin this morning was asked to explain how the return of M. Austin would fix the Cowboys and carry them DEEP into the playoffs. Playoffs? PLAYOFFS? And deep? Oh please. It was so obvious that he was lying and trying to be convincing; as a Dallas Homer he is now forced to adopt this persona even though he knows it is not true. I'll be surprised if Austin lasts 2.5 games before the next hammy strain. Irvin was not convinced nor convincing--he's not an actor. Don't make up crap on the show, most viewers are educated enough about the subjects to see right through the BS. This isn't "Entertainment Tonight" or TMZ?

Warner is bearable, he is generally calm and explains clearly. Marshall is good but he gets too mad when Sapp and Irvin are forced to carry the League's lies to make the show interesting when in fact sometime there is no story or interest in a game. Amazingly Deion is quite often the voice of reason to regroup and balance the madness this becomes.

Mariucci can be funny and seems like he was a great and relaxed coach to play for. Great relationship with the players on the show....problem is Rich Eisen thinks he can be like Mooch.

And when I'm just rolling my eyes at the whole thing and looking for the remote I get a Papa John commercial to seal the deal.....off to Fox or ESPN

Maybe unfair to bash these guys this morning when in fact the show gets really out of control in the PM; having these guys spend 14 hours at the studio is too much, they are punch drunk by the end of the day.

i usually watch their early show on at 7-am/est.,......i can stomache about an hour of the 9-am show until espn comes-on at 10-am.,....one thing i do question is that it seems like the NFL-NWRK is a great [or unfair]launching-pad if you're H.O.F.-bound.,....*maybe jerry kramer and charles haley should get an intern job there..?*.

I guess not having NFL Network is no big deal. I had called Verizon about adding it but since they do not do a la carte I'd have to upgrade the package I have now. Bottom line..not worth the extra cost.

ESPN does the same thing. Two weeks ago they asked there "personalities" who was the surprise team that would make the playoffs? Guess which team Merle Hodge picked?

If you guessed the 2-6 Steelers give yourself a prize.

TH,
love the network during the season. Cost me about $8/month with comcast. Yes it is packaged with other crap of course. I can cancel it at any time.....guess when that will happen? Day after the SuperBowl. Nice on Thursday nights too of course, particularly with the full season of Thursday ball.

See your point on the HOF. They obviously like having popular and well known All-Pros and of course out of sight out of mind like guys you listed. Haley was a mental case, not sure he'd work on NFL Network--or maybe totally entertaining.

I love the NFL Channel. They show Top 10's alot, classic games, and that is what the Thursday games are on. Mooch is excellent so is Warner and the ladies on there are cute and knowledgeable. ESPN is very EastCoast bias IMO which drives me crazy. The Colts get no love from ESPN and they didn't when they had Peyton either, it was always about the Pats and Steelers and still is on that network. NFL Channel>ESPN

i do catch about an hour each night [7-pm/or/8-pm] if there's nothing else on,....their ''it's an NFL-life'' series is very well done on tues.-nites [steve gleason/saints/ALS is on this tues.],....But their sunday-morning pre-game show seems to have ''jumped-the-shark'' esp. when they did that fishing-boat/spot.,......watching their post-game show last night after their pats/game highlight was ''priceless'' ,...when they had to do a complete 90-minute more follow-up show high-lighting every game all the boyz were getting a lil' ~groggy~ while deion was busy ~texting~ his gf's.

I agree Otis. NFL Channel is way better than ESPN although ESPN does carry the Monday Night games and I do like Gruden. His faces and enthusiasm are priceless.
