NFL  > Baltimore Ravens  > Visiting Fan in Baltimore?
November 28, 2013, 10:41 PM
Quick question for all you Ravens fans out there who go to games... I'm a Patriots fan, and I'm thinking of going to the game on December 22 on my way home from college for break. I've been to a few away games, but only in Cincinnati and Jacksonville so I don't have a whole lot of experience with going to other stadiums. What kind of environment is M&T Bank Stadium and what can I expect as an opposing fan? I know at home we consider you guys a bit of a rival but I don't know how serious it is for you... should I think twice before going to a game here wearing a Pats jersey? Any info/suggestions would be great. Thanks!! :)

I don't think there are any Ratbird fans around here, but if you want to wear the Pats jersey, have a flak jacket underneath it.

my advice = wear a rain-coat,.......they'll be huckin ~lugeez~ all-over your back while you're sitting, standing in line, etc.. ; )

I think it is a shame you have to ask the question? Where is the sportsmanship? Sure we all want our team to win and the other team to lose but without the OTHER team and their fans there is NO game. You should be able to go to an "away" game with confidence. Sad statement on the behavior of fans at ALL ballparks if this question needs asking.

Why should that be a surprise? I saw a story this morning that some guy stole a Salvation Army kettle in a mall. Society has totally gone into the crapper!

Well said, +45. When I was still going to all of the games, win, lose or draw, I went out of my way to be friendly to visiting fans. At least the ones who weren't acting like fools. Them I tried to ignore. Honestly? The most problems I saw were cause by drunken, moronic Steelers fans, who are, sad to say, legion.

There was one time, back in like '75, when some idiot Bills fans started a fight in our section. I was just a kid, and I was looking for a Bills fan my size in case things got out of hand.

Following the Cowboys game yesterday there was this -

A Dallas Cowboys fan was beaten by Oakland Raiders fans following the Thanksgiving Day game, according to the Arlington Police Department.

The police are still looking for witnesses to the incident and have not released the victim's name.

Tiara Richard, a police spokesperson, said Friday the injuries are not life threatening.

Police are investigating whether the Raiders fans wore jerseys. This is the first known incident involving fan violence at AT&T Stadium.

The victim was found unconscious on the sidewalk at Cowboy Way and AT&T Way.

Christ. This sort of thing keeps happening. What is it with some Raiders fans?

Al Davis would have been proud.

Dodgers fans, who are likely also Raider fans, turned a Giants fan into a vegetable. A Giants fan stabbed and killed a Dodgers/Raider fan in self defense after being viciously attacked. Christ. What is it with these Dodgers/Raider fans attacking innocent Giants fans?

Your guess is as good as mine.

What do you think it has to do specifically with "Raiders" fans? Singling out Raiders fans is idiotic. You yourself mentioned a couple of other incidents. Things like this happen every year, at all different teams stadiums. The incident you reference in your link happened in 1990 for godssakes.

I said SOME Raiders fans. What does the age of the report have to do with anything?

Oh, please. Some Raiders fans enjoy a certain reputation, and with good reason.

i remember it was kinda like the ol' ~wild-west~ up here in patriot-land before the Kraft-family built the new stadium [2001],.....fights were common-place all-around mee esp. if you wore the visiting team's apparel, security was lax,.....lol, even phil simms got a snowball off the head while doing his play-by-play [during tuck/game].,.....since the new stadium was built kraft hired a ''soccer-hooligan'' security-expert from england, hired more yellow-jackets, and started their take-away ticket/privileges regardless if you lent somebody your tix for the day,.....my friend's tix were taken-away because of some idiot [mee?], but after a lengthy process they were reinstated....*$igh*.,.......i haven't been to a game there in about 6-years, but i do miss bartering my ~wild-turkey~ nips on a cooooold-day for some of those ~funny~ cigarettes.......!
