NFL  > Washington Redskins  > Trade Jason Campbell

This team cannot win with him.

The kid has all of the talent in the world, but it's obvious that his mental makeup is seriously lacking.

He folds like a cheap suit under pressure.

Now, I'm not sure who to get moving forward (Brennan maybe?), but all I know is that Campbell is not that guy.
February 26, 2009  04:18 PM ET

I agree! Cambell is a reactive QB that reacts too late! He can't do timing plays like Collins, see end of 2007 season. When he does finally react he either overthrows or underthrows the player. He's a nice guy but doesnt have what it takes to win. Frank Scarpine-Brea, CA

The Redskins are a team hard to figure very much like Dallas. Both teams are very inconsistant. Dallas beats the Giants and gets killed by the Eagles. The Skins lose to Dallas then beat the hot Eagles. I don't believe Campbell is a bad qb. Hes still very young. Him and Romo are gonna get better. Just an opinion.

First two posters are dead wrong. You should get that season ticket package in HD if you are even seeing the games every weekend. Sounds like you just watch the highlights though.......

February 27, 2009  10:33 AM ET

I have watched every game of Campbell since he has been the starter. He has a cannon of an arm. His problem though, is that he will not show off that arm and throw a ball farther than 10 yards down the field. How many times did the skins have it 3rd and 8 or 9 and he would throw a 4 yard pass. I don't know why, but he will never try to make the big throw. Until he gets right mentally and takes shots down the field the redskins will never go anywhere, it doens't matter who they sign in the offseason.

February 27, 2009  11:21 AM ET

I agree. As a Skins fan, watching him last year for a full season made me believe he is not the QB for the future. Prior to the season, he had the benefit of the doubt: New QB coach, new system, never had started a full 16 games. I grew tired of all the praise of how he didn't have a turnover for the first part of the year. This is because he doesnt throw the ball downfield?

Of course. Because people with opinions different from your's OBVIOUSLY don't watch the games.

Yes, trade Campbell. He reacts never anticipates his throws. He needs to go. Bring in Cassel.

The NFC East is like the old boxing heavy weight division when Ali, Frasier, Norton and Foreman were supreme. Ali loses to Frasier and Norton; Foreman crushes Frasier and Norton, and then Foreman loses to Ali.

Foreman is still cooler than Ali.

Ali never made an awesome grill.

Hey, I cook with one of those grills almost every night. I love them all as competitors and real fighters.
I was just in Jr High at the time. But it was a great time for boxing and the only time a sport other football could garner the world's attentions.
No, the NFC East won't do that anytime soon, but the Eagles, Giants, Cowboys and Redskins do beat the hell out of each other for 8 games per team per season.
Imagine where Arizona would have been last year if it were still in the NFC East?
Yeah, my thoughts too . . . ;)

This just in!

The Washington Redskins have signed Dan Orlovsky to a 9 year, $217 million contract.

trade campbell and get what in return? no team is going to give up anything worth trading him for

February 28, 2009  09:51 AM ET

I think you should at least see what you could get for him (cambell). Because you may get something good but if not you could develope him.
And besides not pointing the finger but lets count dropped passes and recievers not getting open fast enough as well as the protection.

I think people love to blame the quarterback when an offense doesn't work right and Jason is feeling that blame now. But it's the offensive line that is causing the poor performance. Look at how Jason and Clinton excelled early in the season when the line was healthy. After the mid way point Clinton's numbers went down and Jason was getting hit before he even had a chance to look down field. Jason is a tough quarterback with a good arm. Don't get rid of him; get rid of those old guys on the O-line that can't block worth a damn anymore.

Ya'll need to check yallself, he been in too many offense schemes..give the brother-man a chance ya'll...what up fools?

i absolutely love this talk! i mean it's great! this is exactly what the gints fans were saying about little manning before he stepped up and won a super bowl. keep up this talk fellow skin's fans, keep it up. maybe this is the year J Cam finally puts it all together, right? i mean it's not like he hasn't had entirely too many systems to learn in short amounts of time, right?

March 1, 2009  10:44 PM ET

To all of those fans who want to get rid of Campbell, who do you want exactly? There is absolutely no one available worth signing. Matt Cassel (let's see how he looks without the Patriots offensive line, Randy Moss, and playing the NFC West on the Chiefs), Colt Brennan (yeah, he got sacked about 60 times against guys that are no longer in the league), and who else? Sage Rosenfels just signed a free agent contract with the Vikings and he is terrible. Their simply are not that many elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Manning, Rothelesberger, and Brady, maybe McNabb and Warner (they are old, however), and that is about it.

Look, I am not saying that Campbell is the second coming of anything. But he works hard, is a good teammate, never says a bad word about the coaching or his teammates, and is a good athlete who makes very few big time mistakes. He also plays hurt and plays tough behind an average WR corps and a poor offensive line. So, I think that he deserves our support as fans, because he certainly has not cost us any games yet. We should root for this guy to succeed, because he is simply the best chance we have of winning any time soon.

And, on an unrelated note, if you want to blame someone for the Redskins not being successful, blame Dan Snyder. He is the guy that just made a defensive lineman one of the highest paid players in the NFL. As long as the Redskins do not have a real GM (aka not yes-man Vinny) they will never win as long as they are beholden to the whims of Dan The Fan Synder.

Skins will never get to the promised land with Campbell. Too indecisive - deer in the headlights. I see Jay Cutler just got back-sided in Denver and wants out. Lets go for it. All the other pieces are starting to fall in place but without a quality QB we're wasting our time. The Campbell honeymoon is over.

You Redskins fans so dead set on getting rid of Jason Campbell when he has no real weapons or an offensive line. Yes he has Santana Moss, but he isn't a guy who catches 7+ balls a game, he is a big play guy, not a possession over the middle type. You drafted Devin Thomas and it will take a little bit to get acclimated to the game. Chris Cooley is a solid TE and that should be good to help Jason. But I still think you need another big possession receiver like Housh or something like that. A 6'4 guy with good hands who doesn't mind doing the dirty work over the middle. Moss is great but he isn't going to take shots over the middle at his small stature, and Cooley is slow. Thomas should get better with time. Don't give up on this kid, he has played in 3 different offenses or something like that since he has been in the league. He needs time to learn a system and get better. Give him a solid line and he wouldn't need to make such rash decisions.
