NFL  > Seattle Seahawks  > Russell Wilson the best QB of the 2012 draft class
December 7, 2013, 08:41 PM
Andrew luck is good. RGIII will have to see after the knee brace. But Russell Wilson it mean he looks really good. I mean I'm not saying he is the best it is too soon see how this turns out. But he was a huge steal in the 3rd round to be 11-1 right now. I mean he was suppose to be the third string last year..

Russell Wilson was the best QB of the 2012 draft class in my opinion.

December 7, 2013  09:35 PM ET

What, No Love for Nick Foles ? His numbers are about the same as Wilson if not better considering he has played only 9 games. and they were both taken in the 3rd round.

Maybe they should ask all the teams coaches and owners whom they would take, Wilson or Luck ? They would still take Luck. Ask Washington if they would prefer RGIII or Wilson ?

December 7, 2013  09:53 PM ET

I look at Russell Wilson because he played almost two complete seasons and look at those stats. Nick foles is a good Qb but last year he was not. Impressive but hasn't completed 16 games to compare him to luck or RGIII. I believe what he did for the organization no promises the eagles will win there division. I know 9 games but RGIII still waiting after brace. Luck struggled with the record.

December 7, 2013  11:44 PM ET

Wilson is rising. Luck is still probably considered the #1 of the crop, but I doubt Seattle would trade Wilson for Luck straight up. Wilson and Luck are intelligent and leaders. Franchise QB's. Unfortunately for RGIII, health has slowed his progress. Foles does have a small body of work thus far.

But as a Seahawk fan, I would say : yes, Wilson is the best of the class, and time will tell (more than just the last 2 years).

December 8, 2013  10:09 AM ET

I agree but no one thought Wilson would do anything.

December 8, 2013  11:19 AM ET

Statistically, right now, Russell Wilson is the best.

However, it's only fair to keep in mind that - unlike the other QBs of his draft class - Wilson was drafted by a stacked team. A solid running game and an elite defense were already in place when he arrived. Which takes a lot of pressure off any QB.

I think two opposing arguments can be made here:

1. Wilson didn't face the uphill challenges of other QBs in his draft class.
2. Wilson elevates the team around him (Seattle wasn't dominant before Wilson arrived; they were dominant when Wilson arrived)

December 8, 2013  11:44 AM ET

IMO, right now...

1. Russell Wilson
2. Andrew Luck
3. Nick Foles
4. RGIII
5. Ryan Tannehill
6. Brandon Weeden

Weeden probably doesn't even deserve a mention - considering he's a near lock to be replaced - but he has started 20 games since being drafted in 2012.

I've never been high on the Ryan Tannehill bandwagon. A lot of people like what they see on the field. But at the end of the day, all I see is two seasons of mediocre stats.

It may just be the Eagles-homer in me putting Foles over RGIII. But I believe that sentiment would generally be shared outside of Philadelphia. There's no QB in this class on a faster rise than Foles; and no one a faster decline than RGIII.

I predicted he would be the best QB in the 2012 draft.

I agree. Seattle was and is loaded.

Sorry guys Andrew Luck is better than Russell Wilson. Wilson is playing on the better team. Put Andrew on Seattle with Lynch and the Defense they have Seattle would be doing the same thing. It's all opinion but I am not sure the Colts would still be 8-4 if Wilson was our QB? The Colts O.Line is pretty bad and they have no running game except for the occasional surprising decent Brown run. Luck's best WR is TY Hilton currently and he is really a slot WR. Fleener at times is the main target. Andrew has still managed to go 3-2 without Wayne which is highly resectable and Luck in his career has 10 career come from behind wins. Colts just got screwed bigtime on a call down by the Goal line that gave the Bengals 7 Points. Everyone on TV is saying the call was just terrible. 14-0 Bengals on an inclusive call! Colts are in big trouble today.

I'm not saying Russell Wilson would have been good on Indy. I'm not saying luck isn't decent. I look at 11 wins compared to 8. Wilson seems to read what to do in blitz better then luck. Wilson enter today has 2,672 yards 22 td 6 int, compared to 2,793 yards 15 Td 8 int. luck doesn't have a wr I get that. Golden Tate isn't great. Wilson was drafted in round 3 compared to the first pick. If you can compare number 1 to a 3rd round pick. That is saying something. Plus Wilson went further in the playoffs in his rookie year then luck and RGIII did. That is why I say he will become the best from that class.

December 8, 2013  03:59 PM ET

What he has accomplished so far.

December 8, 2013  05:20 PM ET

I definitely think Luck and Wilson are the 2 best QB's out of the young QB's as in Cam, Kaep, and RG3. RG3 has had a disaster of a season. I just look at what Wilson has around him and it's better than what Luck has around him at the moment. Colts also beat Seattle in the Luck vs Wilson matchup. Both are going to be great IMO. Luck had 4 TD's and 326 Yards with no INT's today but the Defense gave up 42 Points, Seattle's Defense rarely plays poorly like that.

December 8, 2013  06:57 PM ET

Cam had a good season. Idk if your talking about sophomore slump though. But maybe it is too early to tell but I mean when it all said and done for there careers.

December 8, 2013  08:45 PM ET

Luck no receivers? Wilson has been without Rice and Harvin. Tate, Kearse, and Baldwin to throw to? That's it. He was without 3/5 of his starting offensive line for 1/2 season. The Hawks were stacked on the defense when Wilson arrived. Not so on the offense.

Thank you someone agrees.

Being stacked on Defense makes a huge difference for a QB and Wilson has Lynch to hand the ball off too. Luck has Brown/Richardson - advantage Lynch easily. The OVERALL talent of the 2 teams isn't even close between the Seahawks/Colts especially now that Wayne is out. Seahawks have had some injuries to their O.Line no doubt but the Colts O.Line just stinks period. Luck was sacked 5 times last week vs the Titans and hurried all day today. Every game seems to be like that, luckily Luck has wheels besides just being a pocket passer otherwise he would struggle most Sunday's with the protection he is getting.

December 8, 2013  11:05 PM ET

Statistically after today not much difference between Wilson/Luck. Wilson 2871 Yards, 23 TD's, 8 INT's. Luck 3039 Yards, 19 TD's, 8 INT's. Seattle just has a better Defense where they can get more key stops to win more games (11-2 to 8-5) + they have Lynch who can control clock when needed which is huge.
