NFL  > General NFL  > Familiar foes, Packers vs Niners
December 30, 2013, 11:11 PM
Well, last year the 49ers opened the season with a win in Green Bay then followed it up by ending Green Bay's season with a win at the stick. This year they opened the season with a win over the pack at the stick and have a chance to end their season with a win at the frozen tundra.

I won't lie. I believe this was the worst case scenario the Niners had. GB will be hungry for revenge and have a solid chance of ending the Niners' season if San Fran's offense comes out flat. But in the end, I believe the 49ers offense is farther ahead of the Packers' defense than the Packers' offense is vs the 49ers' defense.

I look forward to a hard fought victory no matter who win.

GO NINERS !!!!!!

I think the 49ers are in the perfect place if all works out as planned. The 49ers have beaten Green Bay the last 3 times they have played. The 49ers are a much healthier team than Green Bay. The 49ers actually have a decent receiving corps for the first time. Boldin Crabtree, Davis and Patton .

The 49ers are one of the better road teams in the NFL. They are leaving for Green Bay on Friday to acclimate themselves to the weather.

The glaring problem of the 49ers for the last 3 games has been the lack of a pass rush. Glennon, Ryan and Palmer were given way to much time to pass. If they allow Rodgers the that much time to pick his targets the 49ers will lose for sure.

The question is which team can play their 'A' game on the frozen field.

The game starts at 4:40 Sunday evening, it is going to be a cold one. C.K. did play in similar weather occasionally for Nevada (gets mighty cold in Reno, snow is very rare but not 15 degree mornings are common).

I see SF as the stronger team but GB has way more experience playing in that weather, having said that I would not wager a dime on this game, could go either way.

I think Rodgers and GB needed a slither of an opening, and they got it.

Watch out for a team that is not expected to do noise in the playoffs.

Does Aaron Rodgers prefer a tight end or a wide receiver?

I heard the rumors, I doubt he's gay?? He is still the best QB under 30 today. @Narry and Duke you guys got the worst draw of any team IMO as playing in GB sucks and against Rodgers. They usually never lose there in the Playoffs.

Who cares if he is?

As long as he plays well and helps win games I dont care who he bangs. And whatever Lambeau mystique there used to be is long gone. The weather doesnt really play into their favor either as they are still more of a finesse team.

I dont think GB wins this but thats why they play the games. I think GB will have to be near perfect on offense (no turnovers, little pressure on Rodgers, being able to run for good yardage on early downs and convert on 3rd down) to walk away with a win. Its either that or the defense flips a switch and plays out of their minds...which isnt likely. Should be a great game. Cant wait.

Both teams are great. It's ashame 1 will be eliminated right off the bat.

Not that there is anything wrong with that...

Maybe they should play the best 2 out of 3...

I will be watching the game from inside my warm home on beautiful HD television. Hopefully the 49ers will bring their best effort, because I believe they are the better team, cold or not.

I'm heading out to Lambeau later and am hopeful of a Packers win. The temperature will be at 4 degrees above zero at game time with a wind chill of a minus 18 degrees.

Go Packers!

Good news for Green Bay. They won't have to play the 49ers in the regular season in 2014.

The general consensus is that Green Bay should keep winning the NFC North as long as Rodgers is healthy.

Once again the 49ers were in a perfect opportunity to take command of the game but Greg Roman once again suffered from Brain Freeze when the 49er offense got into the Red Zone. If the 49ers had lost this game all fingers would have pointed at Roman and his inability to get the ball in the end zone and allowing the opposing teams to stay in the game.
