NFL  > Cleveland Browns  > Bless Their Heart!
January 15, 2014, 01:06 PM
The Cleveland Browns haven't hired a coach yet. That's not the end of the world, but Browns fans are getting a bit anxious.

There were seven openings and six are filled after the Vikings reportedly hired Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. And the Browns, well, there hasn't been a lot to say.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels pulled out of consideration. Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles did too. Green Bay quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo, who interviewed with the Browns, took an offensive coordinator job with the Giants. Reports have placed Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who is still coaching in the playoffs, at the top of the Browns' wish list.

Fans of the downtrodden team aren't thrilled. It has pretty much been downhill since the front office was called out as the "Three Stooges" at a press conference following coach Rob Chudzinski being fired after just one season.

But Browns owner Jimmy Haslam wants fans to not worry.

Personally, I think it is a disservice to Moe, Larry and Curly to compare the Browns to them. They made more sense. The Browns..not so much!!

I see a [def. or off. coord.] from one of the final-four or 3-teamz [minus pats] going there after this weekend,......esp. during the two weeks in-between the SB,.....?!

That's not the place to go to start out as the last guy just learned. And why go to a team owned by a guy who is being investigated by the IRS?

Notice they use the term 'wish list' for coaching candidates. LOL!

I'd like to see him get a head coaching gig at some point. Might need to cut, shave, and join Jenny Craig and Toastmasters. Then again, could probably pass on JC...there are quite a few "robust" head coaches in the league.

I like having his bro in the NFL as a coach. Guys like him make things more fun - at least for the rest of us following other teams.

Rob Ryan. Good fit

As to McDaniels pulling his name from consideration - ???I???ll definitely be here [next year]. This is the right time for me to be here,??? McDaniels said, via NESN.com. ???It just means that I made a decision to be here. I???m very happy here. Sometimes you have to make choices for what???s best for you and your family, and that???s what I tried to do.???

McDaniels didn???t interview or withdraw from consideration for any of the other openings, so there may have also been other issues at play. With Todd Bowles also pulling his name from consideration on Tuesday, it???s not like McDaniels is the only coach who decided that they weren???t a fit with the job in Cleveland and there have been several reports about the unattractiveness of the post.

That last sentence says it all.
