The Texans have the coveted top spot in the NFL Draft, the question, which direction do they go?

I would take Johnny Football. Without a good QB they have no chance of taking down Andrew Luck eventhough their Defense still has Watt and decent talent. I hope they don't draft him and they stick with Case K or Schaub who are both mediocre because the Colts will win the Division easily again if they do that.

I would sign Mike Vick as a discount, and then draft Clowney.

Clowney and Watt on the ends...wow

February 6, 2014  06:29 PM ET

I think they'll take Clowney as well. JJ Watt will help him take his game to another level.

February 6, 2014  06:34 PM ET

Texans will trade their #1 pick for more picks,......they're ''retooling''....not ''rebuilding''.

February 6, 2014  07:23 PM ET

This is a no-brainer... Johnny Manziel...

February 6, 2014  08:15 PM ET

Some people at this point in time are projecting Clowney dropping to #5 and Oakland taking him. If this becomes more of the common consensus then Oakland might trade up to #1 and grab a QB and Houston can drop to #5 and still get Clowney.

Here's a question ,how did the Texans shiet the bed after 2 playoff games in a row and hit the bottom of the worst team this year?

I hope they do sign "toothpick Vick" [at a discount price]and get Clowney in the draft.

Vick will be in his normal place ,injured on the sideline bench or IR'd.

Better get some offensive players ,or they'll stay in the celler till corrected.

Exactly.

Houston finds themselves in the 'unfortunate' situation of needing to draft a QB #1 overall, even though no true #1 overall QB prospect exists.

But in the NFL, when teams need a QB they draft a QB, even if it's a reach. It happens every year.

I'd like to see them draft the best QB available not named Johnny Manziel. I see Manziel as a crash-and-burn prospect. The kid can't keep his head on straight off the field and there are questions about his work ethic. Sounds like a Matt Lienart or Ryan Leaf type kid to me.

That would be a popular pick for Houston fans.

Un,

It's looking like Johnny's the 1st pick by the Texans. As they need too get the offense going.

I don't believe any QB has such an effect on the Defense, that they bottom out, [same as the Colts].

EZ, we want EZ! What's up friend. Without at least a decent QB they wont beat Indy so what option do they have. Great Defense wins as proven but you also need a QB that isn't a dope either ;-) like what Houston has to win.

Now I'm not saying they won't take him. I'm simply saying they shouldn't.

But there's a lot of time between now and Draft Day (even more time than usual now that they pushed it back to May). And we all know how much the draft boards shuffle after the Combine.

I would caution you to remember one thing: the 2006 NFL Draft. Everyone claimed that Reggie Bush was the sure-fire, can't miss, "once-in-a-decade-talent", who was a lock to be drafted #1 overall by the Houston Texans. Houston surprised everyone and took Mario Williams instead.

Johnny Manziel has Ryan Leaf written all over him.

I agree that they will do this. They can trade down quite a few spots and still get Manziel, plus some extra picks.

He should erase that. Ryan Leaf was a huge bust.

BL,

No disrespect meant about that Indy's s/itty year ,but the Texans managed the same thing, and ironicaly get's too choose 1st.

Wanna bet who they take as the 1st pick?

You got a Genuine article with Luck,He's a great QB and doesn't fkup during the off season.

It doesn't get better than that.

Johnny Football is a huge reach,as he's got a lot of history in College,I don't know ifn he can keep his s/it together on an NFL team ,but the risk may be worth the chance. [Too Houston.]

I can see it. Matt Lienart also comes to mind.

Highly touted prospects with questionable work ethic who partied too hard.
