After having a few days of reflecting on Peyton Manning and the Broncos embarrassing loss in the SB, if you think about some of the things Irsay has done and said in his decisions they have been right on. Yes Peyton Manning brought a Championship to Indy (one I will always appreciate and cherish because many of other great franchises haven't won 1 and Indy won the big 1 at least) but letting Peyton go and drafting Andrew Luck is even more clear to me now that was the right decision. Peyton's 11-12 Post Season record and continual failures in the Playoffs are puzzling and he could retire or play 1 or 2 more years at best. Luck if he stays healthy will play 15 more years in probability with todays technology and he is already borderline great. Two 11 win seasons and already a Playoff win in year 2 which it took Peyton 6 seasons to win a Playoff game. IMO I don't see Peyton ever winning another SB at this point as he had the best year possible and still lost. Luck on the other hand = future is bright for the Colts for the next 10-15 years.

Irsay's father moved the Colts from Baltimore to Indianapolis in the dead of night after telling the mayor that the Colts would stay in Baltimore. Jim Irsay is a chip off the old block and the ultimate scumbag...

Given the health concern of Peyton it was a no-brainer even for that no-brained idiot Irsay.

The move to Indianapolis had nothing to do with Jim Irsay it was his dad. Something Ravens fans cant comprehend either for some reason. How is Jim Irsay a scumbag? He has actually been a great owner here in Indianapolis bringing the likes of Eric Dickerson to town, hiring Bill Polian, picking up Jim Harbaugh, drafting Peyton over Leaf which he and Polian had the same input on, and now choosing against a lot of peoples wishes to just let Peyton go who he paid mightly for the year he didnt even play and hiring Grigson who is legit and drafting Luck. Just because the guy is a drunk and sends out silly tweets doesn't make him a bad guy. He always keeps the Colts competitive.

Thanks to Polian you have to hold your breath after every passing play because you never know when a flag will be thrown for a ticky-tack touch penalty.

lol,.....that 5-yrd. rule pretty much sealed (billy [na]polian's) legacy..........until peyton got hurt...!

The real problem is no one ever seems to try to build a complete team around Peyton Manning.

Indianapolis eventually began neglecting their running game. And neither team ever put a respectable defense on the other side of the field.

Even the year Peyton did win a Super Bowl, people like to point at that defense and pretend it was good. It did make some clutch plays (I don't believe you can win a Super Bowl without a defense that makes at least some clutch plays). But that defense was nothing special; it didn't even rank within the top 20 at yards or points allowed.

let's be thankful he didn't ruin the game any further, but Goodell seems intent on taking over that anyway!

I can't think of one franchise I would consider great that hasn't won at least one SB.

So. please explain. Maybe our definitions of "GREAT" differ immensely.

I agree with that. I would consider great, a team that over a period of time consistently went to the playoffs and has multiple Super Bowl wins. I really think there are only a handful in that category.

Top 8 Super Bowl Winners:
Steelers 6-2
Cowboys 5-3
49ers 5-1
Packers 4-1
Giants 4-1
Patriots 3-4
Raiders 3-2
Redskins 3-2

Here's a few losers.

Vikes 0-4

Buffalo 0-4

Cincy 0-2,[ Super Bowls] 0-4 WC's since 2009

And agree, None of these teams has ever won a Super Bowl.

After numerous try's.

I was happy too see the Seahawks win a Super Bowl,Now? they're the target for the other 31 teams too tee off on.

I would consider the Eagles and Chargers to be great franchises. Look at their history's, Bills and Vikings as well and none of them have won SB's but have won a ton of games and been in SB's/Championship Games a few times and have had several HOFame players. I guess Great and Elite could be 2 different things if you want to break it down that way as Elite would be franchises that have won a ton of games + (SB's), Great would be the next step down, then Very Good, Good, Average, etc.. Chargers have been to 4 AFC Title Games since 1980 and a SB + have had a lot of Very Good other seasons, they have had GREAT success overall but have failed to win a SB so I guess not ELITE. That was just an example. Bills went to 4 straight SB's from 1990-1993, no other team in the history of the NFL has done that, that alone makes them a GREAT franchise.
