the idea being floated around town that Troy Aikman should come in and take over the GM duties of the Cowboys would happen. Roger Staubach endorses the idea. Michael Irvin agrees it would work. Unfortunately there is just one stumbling block. *sigh*

And considering Aikman just laid into to JJ (implicitly--didn't do it by name), I'd say JJ may not be too happy with him right now.

"It???s not an idea that???s never been explored before, but Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman believes the Dallas Cowboys are suffering from a lack of identity, a lack of a solid philosophy that informs the entire organization. This problem is abundantly clear, Aikman believes, when you hold the Cowboys up against the model of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

"I think with winning organizations there are processes that are in place and there is a way to do things, a philosophy, a belief that you have and everything is built around that," Aikman said, per the Dallas Morning News. "If you take Seattle for instance, if you say 'hey, what is their philosophy,' you kind of know what that is. They???re going to play great defense, they???re going to run the football and they draft players who fit the mold of what they???re looking for."

"I don???t know that the Cowboys . . .the Cowboys tend to change their beliefs each year on what it is they need or what they???re about. I find that to be somewhat unusual for a club that has been owned by the same owner for however long it???s been."

It is very easy...they can buy the Dallas Cowboys or shut up!

Sounds simple to me.

Getting rid of jerry, isn't simple, so as long as he owns the Cowboys? He's never gonna give up anything ,other than hiring puppets that's he's pulling the strings on.

Besides, they ain't got enough money.

Troy Aikman?
No thanks.
Cowboys already have a GM that shows signs of a bazillion concussions!

JJ wouldn't give up control and aikman wouldn't work for him. would be a huge positive for dallas, but so would a new HC. "wishing" change won't make it come true. this team is going down a path JJ created and wouldn't expect to see true change till we hit bottom (and we aren't there yet.)

Aikman should be GM, it would turn that whole team around but not sure Troy would want the headaches working with JJ. Until JJ puts his ego aside that is an 8-8 team every year.

If they go 8-8 again that should be considered overachieving. I'll say right now 6-10 is what is realistic, given their current roster, poor salary cap situation and the coaching mess.

@Tx, The Cowboys may set a record for going 8-8 if Jerry doesn't figure something out.
