NBA  > General NBA  > Is Anthony Bennett the worst number 1 pick ever?
February 9, 2014, 03:53 AM
I don't get it. There has to have been scouts looking at this guy before he went number 1. What gives with the Cleveland Cavalier scouts?
February 9, 2014  07:20 AM ET

Scouts watched Bennett on TV instead of in person

Kwame Brown was the worst ever.

Happens when you pick potential over production.

At least Kwame Brown was a bust on the court, and not the bench.

I don't think the number 1 pick this summer will be anything close to Anthony Bennett.

Take note that I said "was the worst ever." At his current rate Bennett should be considered the worst ever.

Anthony Bennett must have been affected by this thread. He scored a season high 19 points last night. His best game so far this season.

February 12, 2014  01:11 PM ET

Not ready to call him the worst # 1 pick of all time just yet. There are plenty of examples of wasted # 1 picks over the years.

Kwame Brown, Michael Olowokandi, Pervis Ellison, Danny Manning, Kent Benson, John Lucas

So far? Yes.

3.8ppg and shooting 31.9% for a big man is just sad.

He's still in the League and his career averages are better.

I could see AB being out of the League in 3-4 years.

Maybe the Cavaliers should have sent Bennett to the D league for a little bit to sharpen up his skills.

I was wrong. This thread didn't bother Bennett at all. The Cavaliers won again but it wasn't because of Bennett's contribution to the team. He scored just 2 points on 1-4 shooting.

The second half of the season is in full swing. Let's see what Anthony Bennett can do to salvage the rest of the season.

Hey leave Anthony Bennett alone! HaHa

Just watched them play tonight against our Orlando Magic. Our announcers said he was cominhg along now, the last month. More mins, more points. Yes, I assume they picked potential over immediate production. Unless you get real lucky, that's the way it is with these 1 and done players. Guess they might could have done better (just *might* have had something to do with the GM thing..*G*)

We're very happly with the #2 pick, Victor Oladipo. He completed his degree in 3 yrs, so he's a bit more mature. He's still learning a lot also, namely offense and point guard, so i'ts no walk in the park for any of them.... It's the situation they come into depending on the team that selects them..

Cleveland is looking really good actually. They need 2 more wins to get the #8 spot in the playoffs. So not bad compared to awhile ago. To get Deng was a heck of a smart move. Haven't understood that yet from Chicago POV. He's GOOD. By next year, Bennett will be playing well. Next year, prob even better. Cleveland's on their way back....

OMG, LMAO, just look at the last 10-13 yrs of the Jags pics!!! Hopefully, we all pray, things are on the rise. When the owner sold the team 2 yrs ago or so, his one stipulation was the new owner give the GM a 3 YEAR EXTENSION!! The city went APE ****!!! HE was the PROBLEM! Needless to say, he is not dere no more!

Don't talk to me about owners, HaHa! My team is stuck w/ that crook Jimmy Haslam. And to be a lifelong Browns fan can be summed up by one tune by blues singer R.L. Burnside...It's Bad You Know!?

AB scores 2 points and has 1 rebound on 0-5 from the field against Toronto.

Bennett should have returned to school. He's not ready for the NBA.
