NFL  > Denver Broncos  > Cutler Wanting Out of Denver
February 28, 2009, 08:04 PM
I just read on ESPN that McDaniels had been trying to cut a deal that would have sent Cutler to Tampa and Cassel to Denver, and then New England would get some form of compensation. Since he signed with KC Cutler isn't going to be traded, but he is pissed apparently.

I can't believe this, I was one of those people that didn't believe Shanahan had been fired when I saw the news, but I eventually came to terms and figured it was best for the organization. So far this post season McDaniels has been doing a fairly decent job except for a couple of weird signings (his brother as QB coach and Gaffney) I was satisfied. Now reading this report saying he wanted to bring Cassel in when he already has one of the top 10 QB's in the league...I'm seriously seriously questioning this guy...
The report basically says that Cutlers relationship with Denver is permenantly tarnished, anybody think there is any truth to this.
I might be jumping the gun and this could be a total rumour to up buzz

I think your jumping the gun. Cutler has an attitude and he needs to lose it or find Jake Plummer and join him.

February 28, 2009  09:20 PM ET

I seriously hope so

The way I heard it Denver received phone calls about Cutler - McDaniels didn't initiate anything. But if McDaniels entertained the notion - then Cutler has a right to be upset.

This would make no sense what so ever. I hate that I have to justify these "actions" in my OWN mind.

How? WHat? huh?

Maybe someone should tell J-Mac and X-man, ( you know what, if they are going to pull this kind of sh** they don't get endearing nicknames) Josh and Brian, that Cutler didn't play on defense.

March 1, 2009  01:02 AM ET

May B Dawk can play QB too?

March 1, 2009  01:06 AM ET

I can think of 10 teams that would be more then happy to take cutler off their hands. Broncs need cutler hes a pro bowler for many years to come.

March 1, 2009  02:12 AM ET

I agree, we need to keep Cutler! We have had some good FA signings the last day with a few more to come over the days, not comparing Elway to Cutler but Elway had his troubles early in his career and he turned out to be a HOFr....our society is such a 'have it right now' attitude some things take time and that includes good quarterback; eassszy eassszy everyone!

March 1, 2009  02:39 AM ET

if they trade cuttler, then i want mcdaniels out of denver.

cutler is a good QB but he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut he and rivers will never be what tom brady and payton maning are today if they keep running there mouths Like a friend told me one time you are young dumb and full of **** lean to shut your mouth and god gave you two ears to go threw one ear and out the other use them guys you are great QB's and will be greater some day jay you aint goin any where dude this is football rumors spread dude

March 1, 2009  11:43 AM ET

You are right , Cutler will never belong to a team that cheats " PATRIOTS" I were able to record the opposing teams plays i would probably win a few super bowls my self!

March 1, 2009  11:44 AM ET

He will never be TOM BRADY ! THANK GOD! DAMN CHEATER!

March 1, 2009  12:38 PM ET

I say...trade him! The guy is making a gazillion dollars. I'll trade you, Jay? Perhaps Jay needs a stimulus pkg? Send him to detroit for a couple years and see if he complains about being a bronco.

March 1, 2009  01:29 PM ET

well he's not going anywhere this year, the broncos apparently rejected his list of where he wanted to be traded so maybe he'll learn to shut up and realise this is a business, but I'd be pissed if I was suposed to be the franchise QB and had a good season and being competant enough to handle the diabetes while playing. Made pro bowl and then was being marketed...Favre and Elway made bad decisions in their days and Favre still does so he could end up being better than Brady and Manning because he can run outside the pockets too. Didn't he have the highest QB rating there last year?

March 1, 2009  04:09 PM ET

Not so quick...ESPN is reporting that Tampa Bay is still in pursuit. I don't think it's in the best interest of the Broncos to let him get away...there isn't alot of talent out there.

March 1, 2009  04:20 PM ET

I've heard some chatter that it was just the agent saying that he had the right to talk to teams, but that he didn't specifically ask to be traded. Also someone was saying that the Broncos were approached about Cutler and McD entertained it. It was apparently a first and 3rd round for him. It's not worth it, but I guess McD just wanted to get a grasp on what teams thought he was worth after all they are sort of rebuilding. I'm sure they'll keep Cutler long term and this was just some powerplay

The same I posted on another comment

Rivers pretty much has shut cutler up!!! Embarrased him at least twice

March 1, 2009  05:41 PM ET

The only reason I see for this is that Cutler is kind of an arse-hole. He has a really cocky attitude. He does have one of the best arms in the NFL and talent to boot. Denver needs Cutler, but probably is getting a little tired of his attitude. I don't know if Denver executives can fix this though. This could get ugly and personal on both fronts and if it does you can pretty much guarantee Cutler will be out the door. Denver is in a really sticky spot right now.

Cutler is better than Rivers dude. Cutler just doesn't have the defense that San Diego has. Yes SG defense played pretty bad last seasons, but led the league in run D 2 years in a row prior to last year. Cutler has a better arm, is more accurate, and doesn't have a running game to set up play action like Rivers has. Only thing wrong with Cutler is his attitude, other than that, Cutler is way better than Rivers. Rivers isn't even on the same block as Cutler.
